Air/fuel mixing in jet flames [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2021
The paper examines eight diverse regimes in which fuels can mix and react with air. These comprise: (i) Lifted subsonic; and (ii) supersonic jet flames, with (iii) and without (iv) cross flows; (v) Rim-attached flames; (vi) Early Downwash flames; (vii) Downwash-attached jet flames; and (viii) Fire Whirls.

Fuel retention in JET ITER-Like Wall from post-mortem analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Selected Ion Beam Analysis techniques applicable for detecting deuterium and heavier impurities have been used in the post-mortem analyses of tiles removed after the first JET ITER-Like Wall (JET-ILW) campaign. Over half of the retained fuel was measured

The influence of the cetane number and lubricity improving additives on the quality parameters of aviation-turbine fuel

open access: yesAviation, 2015
In order to recommend jet fuel for powering diesel engines the quality parameters of the following fuels were determined: diesel fuel (NATO code F-54) according to standard LST EN 590: 2014, jet fuel (NATO code F-35 and F-34) according to standard ASTM D

Auto-Ignition and Flame Stabilization of Hydrogen / Natural Gas / Nitrogen Jets in a Vitiated Cross-Flow at Elevated Pressure

open access: yes, 2013
The influence of natural gas (NG) on the auto-ignition behavior of hydrogen (H2)/nitrogen (N2) fuel jets injected into a vitiated cross-flow was studied at conditions relevant for practical combustion systems (p = 15 bar, Tcross-flow = 1173 K).

EFD-C(13)03/46 Comparisons Between EDGE2D/EIRENE Simulations and D and Low Z Impurity Spectral Emission from JET ITER-like Wall L-mode Plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An understanding of the behaviour of the plasma edge and divertor physics is essential for the design of next-step machines such as ITER, for which JET with its ITER-Like Wall (ILW) of Be in the main chamber and W in the divertor is ideally suited.

Synthesis of AgBiS2 and AgInS2 Based on Formation Energies in Sulfur‐Rich Reducing Flame

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐surface‐area AgInS2 and AgBiS2 nanoparticles were synthesized via enclosed flame spray pyrolysis by tuning flame conditions and formation energies to guide phase formation. Flame parameters were tuned to suppress oxides and enable pure sulfide phase growth.

Conductive Additives for Next‐Generation Batteries: Emphasizing the Potential of Bio‐Derived 3D Carbon Architectures at Electrode–Electrolyte Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
3D conductive frameworks can maintain continuous electron transport, mechanical stability, and interfacial integrity, helping next‐generation batteries operate more efficiently. This Review examines their relevance to Si anodes, all‐solid‐state batteries, and dry‐processed electrodes, and highlights bio‐derived carbons as sustainable, structurally ...

EFD-C(13)03/11 Contrasting H-mode Behaviour with Fuelling and Nitrogen Seeding in the All-Carbon and Metallic Versions of JET [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An all-metal ITER-Like Wall (JET-ILW), consisting of beryllium in the main chamber and tungsten surfaces in the divertor, has now been installed in JET to pursue low retention of fuel species and to explore the impact on next-step-relevant plasmas.
