Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Pitot pressure measurements in a supersonic steam jet

open access: yes, 2014
Ejectors produce a pumping effect based on high speed jet entrainment but data on the development of mixing in steam ejectors with condensation effects is not available.

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

A Parametric Study of Vane and Air-jet Vortex Generators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
An experimental parametric sturdy of vane and air-jet vortex generators in a turbulent boundary layer has been carried out. Experiments were carried out in two facilities, one with a free-stream velocity of 20 m/s and a boundary layer thickness (6) of ...

Feasibility Study on Unblocking Submarine Pipeline with the Coiled Tubing and the High-pressure Water Jet

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
At present, there is no cost-effective method to deal with the blocking of submarine oil and gas pipelines. Based on the analysis of the operating environment of the submarine pipeline, and referring to the previous operating cases, taking coiled tubing ...

Experimental Study on the Influence of Jet Dynamic Pressure Based on a New Confining Pressure Control System

open access: yesShiyou jixie
To address challenges such as low operating efficiency and poor descaling effect in jet stimulation operation of deep/ultra-deep wells, the influence of downhole environmental pressure (confining pressure) on jet dynamic pressure has been studied at home

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...
