High-pressure water jet injury to the chest
The high-pressure water jet cutting method, which uses a high-pressure water stream to cut hard materials, is widely used because it does not generate sparks or dust. However, once the high-pressure water jet is accidentally fired at a human body, a large amount of water containing abrasive materials flows into the body in a short time, causing ...

Bioprinting High‐Cell‐Density Cardiac Tissue Constructs With Sustained Contractile Function
Contractile cardiomyocytes in 3D culture provide insights into the behavior of the heart. Combining a 3D bioprinting approach with a multi‐electrode array allows the development of the 3D culture to be monitored over time, and matured cultures allow the effect of drugs on cardiac function to be modelled, replicating effects seen in clinical application.

In this study, Hammer et al. highlight cyclic‐arginine surface engineering as a highly biocompatible, controllable, and concentration‐dependent regulator of intravitreal nanoparticle mobility in vivo in a translational large animal model. The cyclic arginine surface‐modification supports the development of next‐generation biomaterials for long‐acting ...

Numerical modeling of fracture propagation of supercritical CO2 compound fracturing
The exploitation of shale gas is promising due to depletion of the conventional energy and intensification of the greenhouse effect. In this paper, we proposed a heat-fluid-solid coupling damage model of supercritical CO2 (SC-CO2) compound fracturing ...

On acceleration of jets by radiation pressure
Acceleration by radiation pressure could, in principle, explain the observed relativistic velocity of jets in extragalactic radio sources. The radiative aceleration mechanism is based on radiation beams that are produced and collimated in funnels (vortices) along the rotation axis of a thick accretion disk. These radiation beams accelerate particles to

Study on Pressure Fluctuation Characteristics of Hydraulic Pulsed Jet
By producing instantaneous negative pressure and pulse shock at the bottomhole, the pulsed jet could reduce the pressure holding effect on the cuttings and improve the efficiency of rock breaking and cutting removing. On the basis of the established ...
