Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Synergy and Attenuation of Work-Related Factors in Musculoskeletal Disorders: The Combined Risk Based on Data from the Korean Working Conditions Survey

open access: yesMedicina
Background and objectives: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) account for more than 60% of compensated occupational diseases in Korea. Despite this burden, benchmarks of standardized ergonomic exposure and evidence on the combined effects of risk factors ...

Sensitization and chronic beryllium disease at a primary manufacturing facility, part 3: exposure–response among short-term workers

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2012
OBJECTIVES: Exposure–response relations for beryllium sensitization (BeS) and chronic beryllium disease (CBD) using aerosol mass concentration have been inconsistent, although process-related risks found in most studies suggest that exposure-dependent ...

Persistent and changing job strain and risk of coronary heart disease. A population-based cohort study of 1.6 million employees in Denmark

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2020
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to examine the association between job strain and incident coronary heart disease (CHD) in Denmark, while accounting for changes of job strain.

Occupational and environmental exposure to extremely low frequency-magnetic fields in a large group of workers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim of this study was to provide: (a) an evaluation of current ELF-MF exposure in workers, (b) the specific contribution of occupational exposure to overall 24-hour exposure, and (c) the representativeness of a Job Exposure Matrix.

Drawing Lines, Spanning Boundaries: Managerial Perceptions of Innovation Value in Public and Nonprofit Organizations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Despite the large and varied selection of literature on innovation, questions about the diverse organizational aspects of innovation and the differences of innovation in public and nonprofit organizations still remain.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Regularization and Model Selection with Categorial Effect Modifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The case of continuous effect modifiers in varying-coefficient models has been well investigated. Categorial effect modifiers, however, have been largely neglected.

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
