Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

The Job Exposure Matrix as a Public Health Translational Tool

open access: yesArchivos de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales
Job Exposure Matrices (JEM) have been developed by occupational epidemiologists to estimate worker exposures based on job classifications. Since their inception in the 1980s, JEMs have evolved significantly, expanding from chemical exposures associated ...

P1-303 Inequalities in silica exposure: a study using job exposure matrix [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Epidemiology and Community Health, 2011
Silicosis still persists as a worldwide problem and becomes a major problem for public health. Since 1995 the ILO/WHO established Global Program for the Elimination of Silicosis. In 2006, at the second international meeting of International Plan for Americas, a proposal to build a map of exposure situation based on a Job of Potential ...

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

0227 Benzene occupational exposure estimates in Brazil using a job-exposure matrix [PDF]

open access: yesOccupational and Environmental Medicine, 2014
Objectives To estimate the number and prevalence of occupational exposure to benzene in Brazil. Method This study was carried out with the economic active population of Brazil, using 2010 Census data. Benzene data from the Finisth National Job-Exposure Matrix, FINJEM, by occupational groups and sex were used to estimate the weighted number and ...

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...
