Virulence‐Selective Trap–Capture–Kill Antibacterial Nanostructures With Immune–Metabolic Regulation for Treating Implant‐Associated Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A virulence‐selective antibacterial system based on fascaplysin derivative 14‐modified TiO2 nanostructure (F‐14‐TNA) is developed for treating implant‐associated infections. F‐14‐TNA selectively traps hyperpathogenic bacteria via chemotaxis, captures them electrostatically, and kills them via reactive oxygen species‐mediated pathways.

Neuronal Endothelin a Receptor Mediates Experimental and Clinical Vascular Pain through an Endothelial‐Neural Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The authors develop mouse models by mimicking peripheral vascular diseases, combining multiple strategies and transgenic mouse lines, to demonstrate that ECs, but not macrophages or SMCs, play an active role mediated by endothelial ET‐1/neural ETAR signaling and beyond endothelial homeostatic angiocrine by driving protective pain through the ...

Further Evidence That Chondrocalcinosis 1 (CCAL1) is a Confirmed Mendelian Phenotype With a Known Molecular Basis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chondrocalcinosis (CCAL), also known as calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease (CPPDD), is a frequent multifactorial condition in the elderly, but there are two rare autosomal dominant Mendelian forms, CCAL1 (OMIM %600668) and CCAL2. Only three families with molecularly proven CCAL1 have been reported.

Distal femoral morphology as a risk factor for osteoarthritis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of disability affecting millions of adults in the United States, commonly resulting in the need for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) to restore mobility and quality of life. This study investigates potential differences in baseline distal femoral shape between individuals who received TKA due to OA and a ...

Increasing trend toward joint-preserving procedures for hip osteonecrosis in the United States from 2010 to 2019

open access: yesArthroplasty, 2023
Introduction The incidence of osteonecrosis of the femoral head is estimated at about 10 to 20,000 patients annually, and, when left untreated, 80% or more of cases progress to femoral head collapse.
