Joint radar-communications resource management

2016 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf), 2016
This paper describes a joint radar-communications resource management framework and modeling approach for a synergistic concept that integrates the radar and communications functionality into a single shared-spectrum system. Such systems share a single transmission — communicating with mobile radios and illuminating the target simultaneously.

Joint automotive radar-communications waveform design

2017 IEEE 28th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017
The paper studies the problem of waveform design for a joint Radar-Communications (RadComms) system in an automotive setting characterized by a multitarget environment. The envisaged joint waveform allows exploitation of existing infrastructure to support additional functionalities.

Optimized Sensor Selection for Joint Radar-communication Systems

ICASSP 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2020
Sensor array-based joint radar-communication (JRC) systems exploit adaptive beamforming to transmit radar and communication signals in their respective directions. Optimal sensor selection is anticipated as an attractive means to achieve superior performance with a low hardware cost because of the ever-decreasing cost of the sensor deployment compared ...

A mmWave Automotive Joint Radar-Communications System

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2019
We propose a millimeter-wave joint radar-communications (JRC) system comprising a bi-static automotive radar and vehicle-to-vehicle communications. We study the applicability of known phase-modulated-continuous-wave (PMCW) and orthogonal-frequency-division-multiple-access waveforms for bi-static-JRC.

OFDM-based automotive joint radar-communication system

2018 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf18), 2018
We propose a novel automotive joint radar-communication (JRC) system, where the system first transmits OFDM sub-carriers for radar processing followed by sub-carriers enabling radar and communication functionalities. The receiver processing includes iterative estimation of parameters to alleviate the shortage of samples to estimate range.

Chance Constrained Beamforming for Joint Radar-Communication Systems

2020 IEEE 11th Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop (SAM), 2020
We present an intelligent sensor array-based joint radarcommunication system which exploits chance constrained programming to develop a robust beamforming design. Probabilistic chance constraints are introduced for the communication operation where the communication objectives are achieved with a desired success rate in the presence of communication ...

Adaptive Waveform Design for Automotive Joint Radar-Communication Systems

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2021
Unified waveform design for automotive joint radar-communications (JRC) leverages the scarce spectrum efficiently and has become a key topic for investigation of late. Designing such a waveform necessitates meeting the requirements of both systems, thereby making it a challenging task.

Joint Radar-Communication With Cyclic Prefixed Single Carrier Waveforms

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020
In recent years, software defined radio and digital signal processing have been widely used in communication and radar. As a result, the hardware and RF front-end for radar and wireless communication tends to be similar. Thus, using the same RF and hardware platform for joint radar-communication becomes viable.
