Prevalence of the JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in the world population: a systematic review

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2022
To investigate the global prevalence of the JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa).A comprehensive electronic search of databases, PUBMED, MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIOSIS, and SCOPUS, was conducted up to August 2021. All published articles and studies were considered, excluding animal studies, editorials, personal opinions, letters to ...

Virulence traits and plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance among Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans from Iraq: Low rate of highly virulent JP2 genotype

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2022
Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A. actinomycetemcomitans) is an important causative agent of periodontitis acting by employment of a series of virulence factors. Our aim was to evaluate the virulence traits and plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance of A. actinomycetemcomitans isolates in Iraq.

Presence of JP2 and Non‐JP2 Genotypes of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Attachment Loss in Adolescents in Ghana

Journal of Periodontology, 2012
Background: Limited data are reported concerning the presence of A. actinomycetemcomitans and attachment loss (AL) in sub‐Saharan countries. The authors investigate the carrier frequency of JP2 and non‐JP2 genotypes of A. actinomycetemcomitans and the presence of AL in Ghanaian adolescents and evaluate socioeconomic conditions and oral hygiene ...

Quantification of LtxA-production by JP2- and non-JP2 genotype strains of A. actinomycetemcomitans

2018
Background and Aim: The JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa) has been found to produce during culture 10-20 times more leukotoxin (LtxA) than non-JP2-genotypes. Recently, some Aa non-JP2 serotype b strains have been suggested to produce high amounts of leukotoxin.
