A Dual Pyramid Watermarking for JPEG-2000

19th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (AINA'05) Volume 1 (AINA papers), 2005
In the last decades, Internet becomes more and more popular. Considering the ownership right of digital image, content provides want to devise and effective way to protect their intelligent property right. Digital watermarking, which protects legal copy and distribution of digital products, has been the hotspot of international academia. In this paper,

Automatic quality assessment of JPEG and JPEG 2000 compressed images

SPIE Proceedings, 2002
A novel figure-of-merit (FOM) for automatically quantifying the types of artifacts that appear in compressed images was investigated. This FOM is based on task specific linear combinations of magnitude, frequency and 'localized' structure information derived from difference images.

The JPEG 2000 Suite

2009
The JPEG 2000 Suite provides a comprehensive overview of the baseline JPEG 2000 standard and its extensions. The first part of the book sets out the core coding system, additions to the standard and reference software. The second part discusses the successful deployment of JPEG 2000 in application domains such as video surveillance, digital cinema ...

Visual optimization tools in JPEG 2000

Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2000
We review the various tools in JPEG 2000 that allow the users to take advantages of the various properties of the human visual system such as spatial frequency sensitivity and the visual masking effect. We show that the visual tool sets in JPEG 2000 are much richer than what was available in JPEG, where only locally invariant frequency weighting can be

Heterogeneous Acceleration of Volumetric JPEG 2000

2015 23rd Euromicro International Conference on Parallel, Distributed, and Network-Based Processing, 2015
We present the implementation of a volumetric JPEG 2000 codec as a real-world use case of software acceleration with GPUs and multi-core CPUs. We present a generic methodology to accelerate existing code written in C with OpenCL. Furthermore, we account for the volumetric nature of the processed data and formulate associated optimization guidelines ...

JPEG 2000: guide for digital libraries

Digital Library Perspectives, 2020
Purpose The joint photographic experts group (JPEG) 2000 image compression system is being used for cultural heritage preservation. The authors are aware of over a dozen of big memory institutions worldwide using this format. This paper aims to review and explain choices for end users to help resolve trade-offs that

Visual comparison of JPEG 2000 versus conventional JPEG

Proceedings 2003 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.03CH37429), 2004
One difficulty in image compression research is designing meaningful performance metrics. Purely numerical measures such as PSNR are unsatisfactory because they do not correlate well with human assessment. We introduce a method of subjective image evaluation for image compression called calibrated rank ordering (CRO).

Embedded block coding in JPEG 2000

Signal Processing: Image Communication, 2002
This paper describes the embedded block coding algorithm at the heart of the JPEG 2000 image compression standard. The paper discusses key considerations which led to the development and adoption of this algorithm, and also investigates performance and complexity issues.
