Efficient Automatic Pollen Recognition From Fossil Pollen Samples: A High‐Resolution Example Record From Palaeolake Kieshofer Moor, Northeastern Germany

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
We applied the two‐stage, AI‐based TOFSI approach to test automatic pollen recognition with fossil pollen samples. The algorithm performs very well for all major pollen types and other non‐pollen object classes, suggesting that such tools have the potential to substantially increase the efficiency of pollen analysis.

GAnnoViz: A Cloud‐Integrated Platform for Chromosome‐Level Feature Annotation and Visualization in Biomedical Multi‐Omics

open access: yesMed Research, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 405-410, June 2026.
ABSTRACT With multi‐omics approaches increasingly employed to investigate multidimensional biological systems, current workflows often lack sufficient integration with the underlying genome, limiting comprehensive understanding of genomic structure and chromosomal preferences of candidate genes. Here, we present GAnnoViz (https://github.com/benben‐miao/

A New Multistage Lattice Vector Quantization with Adaptive Subband Thresholding for Image Compression

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
Lattice vector quantization (LVQ) reduces coding complexity and computation due to its regular structure. A new multistage LVQ (MLVQ) using an adaptive subband thresholding technique is presented and applied to image compression.

Basement Geometry and Cover‐Basement Relationships in the Central‐Western Jaca‐Pamplona Basin (Southern Pyrenees): Along‐Strike Variations and Role of Structural Inheritance

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract This study presents a detailed, geometrical characterization of the central‐western domain of the Jaca‐Pamplona Basin based on a combined interpretation of seismic and surface data and the construction of four serial cross‐sections. For the studied portion of the basin, our results highlight that the basement is notably folded and faulted and ...

A JND-Based Pixel-Domain Algorithm and Hardware Architecture for Perceptual Image Coding

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2019
This paper presents a hardware efficient pixel-domain just-noticeable difference (JND) model and its hardware architecture implemented on an FPGA. This JND model architecture is further proposed to be part of a low complexity pixel-domain perceptual ...

Mastcam‐Z Spectrophotometric Properties of Materials at the Van Zyl Overlook, Jezero Crater

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract During Sols 63–65 of Mars 2020, Mastcam‐Z multispectral (442–1022 nm) images were acquired at Van Zyl Overlook (VZO), spanning phase angles from ∼0° to 150°, to model photometric parameters for seven surface units. These units included rocks, soils, regolith, and rover tracks near the Jezero landing site.
