A Retrospective Study of Adult and Pediatric D‐Dimer Tests to Identify Opportunities for Improved Utilization

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction D‐dimers are produced by lysis of cross‐linked fibrin. In children, D‐dimer testing is used to evaluate disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and some inflammatory states, but its use is not validated for screening or ruling out suspected venous thromboembolic events (VTE).

DNA methylation profiling of human CD4+ T helper cells reveals the epigenetic control of SLAMF7 expression in IFN‐γ producing cells

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, EarlyView.
In this study, we confirmed the close relationship between Th17 and ncTh1 cells by conducting a genome‐wide DNA methylation analysis with CD4+ T helper subsets. However, partial epigenetic changes enable ncTh1 cells to execute Th1‐specific transcriptional programs and express proteins such as SLAMF7. Therefore, we hypothesize that epigenetic adaptation

Microencapsulated Quercetin and Bifidobacterium animalis Independently Preserve Jejunal Enteric Neurons During Colorectal Carcinogenesis

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Our study explores the impact of colorectal carcinogenesis on jejunal neurons of the enteric nervous system (ENS), revealing significant neuronal damage. We demonstrated that treatments with microencapsulated quercetin and Bifidobacterium animalis protect enteric neuronal density, and this is reflected in improved gastrointestinal transit times.

Differentially Expressed Salivary miRNAs in Temporomandibular Disorders

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are heterogeneous conditions of unclear aetiology involving the temporomandibular joint, masticatory muscles and neural tissues. Limited understanding of their pathogenesis hampers accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment. Therefore, this study aimed to identify salivary microRNA (miRNA) signatures
