Juvenile hormone resistance: ¡ no PASaran ! [PDF]
The control of growth, differentiation, metamorphosis, and reproduction in insects is a complex interplay of hormones, with the steroid hormone ecdysone and the sesquiterpenoid juvenile hormone (JH) playing major roles. Molting is controlled by ecdysone, and the type of molt is controlled by JH.

Clock gene dysregulation in epilepsy: A systematic review
Abstract Objective Epileptic seizures show a rhythmic pattern, being more frequent at particular times of the day (e.g., only occurring during sleep), suggesting a role of the circadian rhythm. Clock genes regulate the circadian rhythm and might be involved in the pathophysiology of epilepsy.

The molting is an essential part of the silkworm metamorphosis development. Although previous studies have demonstrated that molting in silkworm is associated with prothoracicotropic hormone (PTTH), molting hormone (MH), and juvenile hormone (JH), the ...

Juvenile Hormone Is Required in Adult Males for Drosophila Courtship
Juvenile Hormone (JH) has a prominent role in the regulation of insect development. Much less is known about its roles in adults, although functions in reproductive maturation have been described.

Abstract There is increasing concern regarding pollutants disrupting the vertebrate thyroid hormone (TH) system, which is crucial for development. Thus, identification of TH system–disrupting chemicals (THSDCs) is an important requirement in the Organisation for Economic Co‐operation and Development (OECD) testing framework.

Background Environmental stressors induce changes in endocrine state, leading to energy re-allocation from reproduction to survival. Female Drosophila melanogaster respond to thermal and nutrient stressors by arresting egg production through elevation of

The “target of rapamycin” (TOR) nutritional signaling pathway and juvenile hormone (JH) regulation of vitellogenesis has been known for a long time. However, the interplay between these two pathways regulating vitellogenin (Vg) expression remains obscure.

Thyroid hormone regulates distinct paths to maturation in pigment cell lineages [PDF]
Thyroid hormone (TH) regulates diverse developmental events and can drive disparate cellular outcomes. In zebrafish, TH has opposite effects on neural crest derived pigment cells of the adult stripe pattern, limiting melanophore population expansion, yet

Protein Energy Malnutrition: Opportunities for Cold Plasma Technologies
Protein energy malnutrition (PEM) is a major global health concern driven by biological, environmental, and nutritional factors, including gut microbiota imbalance and low protein intake. Cold atmospheric plasma technologies offer promising, sustainable solutions by improving food security, enhancing protein quality and absorption, and modulating gut ...
