A K‐band eight‐element reconfigurable phased‐array receiver with high Tx‐band rejection

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
A K‐band eight‐element phased‐array receiver is proposed, featuring a reconfigurable beam count and high Tx‐band rejection, tailored for satellite communication applications. By precisely designing the inter‐stage and output matching networks of the four‐

Metallic, 3D-Printed, K-Band-Stepped, Double-Ridged Square Horn Antennas

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents K-band-stepped, double-ridged square horn antennas fabricated by metallic 3D printing technology in copper (85% copper and 15% stannum) and aluminum alloy (89.5% aluminum, 10% silicon, and 0.5% magnesium).

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

The Stellar Content of Obscured Galactic Giant H II Regions IV.: NGC3576 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present deep, high angular resolution near-infrared images of the obscured Galactic Giant H II region NGC3576. Our images reach objects to ~3M_sun. We collected high signal-to-noise K-band spectra of eight of the brightest objects, some of which are ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Colors and K-Band Counts of Extremely Faint Field Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We combine deep K-band (Keck) with V- and I-band (NTT) observations of two high-Galactic latitude fields, surveying a total of ~2 sq. arcmin. The K-band galaxy counts continue to rise above K=22, reaching surface densities of few x 10^5 per sq.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

A New Approach to the Study of Stellar Populations in Early-Type Galaxies: K-band Spectral Indices and an Application to the Fornax Cluster

open access: yes, 2007
New measurements of K-band spectral features are presented for eleven early-type galaxies in the nearby Fornax galaxy cluster. Based on these measurements, the following conclusions have been reached: (1) in galaxies with no signatures of a young stellar

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Complex k band diagrams of 3D metamaterial/photonic crystals

open access: yes, 2011
A finite element method (FEM) for solving the complex valued k({\omega}) vs. {\omega} dispersion curve of a 3D metamaterial/photonic crystal system is presented. This 3D method is a generalization of a previously reported 2D eigenvalue method.
