Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

A K/Ka-Band Reconfigurable Substrate Integrated Coaxial Line to Waveguide Transition Technology

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this article, the designs of the K/Ka-Band reconfigurable Substrate Integrated Coaxial Line (SICL)-to-waveguide transitions are presented. Two types of reconfigurable SICL-to-waveguide transitions, with stepped impedance transformers waveguide ...

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Estimation of Temperature-Dependent Band Parameters for Bi-Doped SnSe with High Thermoelectric Performance

open access: yesCeramics, 2023
Recent studies have revealed the outstanding thermoelectric performance of Bi-doped n-type SnSe. In this regard, we analyzed the band parameters for Sn1−xBixSe (x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.04, and 0.06) using simple equations and the Single Parabolic Band model ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Design of a Low Profile Flexible Tri-Band Frequency Surface Applied in X-Band, K-Band and Millimeter-Band

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A low profile flexible miniaturized tri-band frequency surface is proposed by cascading three layers of periodic arrays. The top and bottom layers have the same square patch structure embedded in the bending gap, whereas the middle layer has an ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Effect of potassium rates and application methods in no-till on soil K availability and crop yield [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo
The combination of potassium (K) fertilization with the adoption of no-tillage (NT) increases the concentration gradient of K in the soil, requiring subsurface layers to diagnose fertility.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
