An Immunomodulating Peptide With Potential to Counteract Endometriosis. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Endometriosis is underpinned by dysfunctional immune responses resulting in failure to clear ectopic endometrial lesions from the peritoneal cavity. The pelvic milieu comprising immature dendritic cells, dysfunctional cytotoxic lymphocytes, and an imbalance in production of interleukin‐12 isoforms including Type I/II interferons (IFNs) is ...

CTCF-mediated transcriptional regulation through cell type-specific chromosome organization in the {\beta}-globin locus [PDF]
The principles underlying the architectural landscape of chromatin beyond the nucleosome level in living cells remains largely unknown despite its potential to play a role in mammalian gene regulation. We investigated the 3-dimensional folding of a 1 Mbp

CFTR in K562 human leukemic cells
In this study, the expression and functional characterization of CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator) was determined in K562 chronic human leukemia cells. Expression of the CFTR gene product was determined by RT-PCR and confirmed by immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis.

Identification of a functional genetic variant driving racially dimorphic platelet gene expression of the thrombin receptor regulator, PCTP. [PDF]
Platelet activation in response to stimulation of the Protease Activated Receptor 4 (PAR4) receptor differs by race. One factor that contributes to this difference is the expression level of Phosphatidylcholine Transfer Protein (PCTP), a regulator of ...

Iterative endocytosis of transferrin by K562 cells [PDF]
The effect of iron on the exocytosis of transferrin by K562 cells was studied by first allowing the cells to endocytose apotransferrin or diferric transferrin. Subsequent release of the apotransferrin was very rapid with a t 1/2 of 3.01 min, compared with 5.5 min for diferric transferrin.

The Roles of Membrane Rafts in CD32A-Mediated Phagocytosis [PDF]
Membrane rafts are highly dynamic heterogeneous sterol- and sphingolipid-rich micro-domains on cell surfaces. They are generally believed to provide residency for cell surface molecules (e.g., adhesion and signaling molecules) and scaffolding to ...

Apoptosis Sensitization by Euphorbia Factor L1 in ABCB1-Mediated Multidrug Resistant K562/ADR Cells
In this article, reversal activities of Euphorbia factor L1 (EFL1) against ABCB1-mediated multidrug resistance (MDR) and apoptosis sensitization in K562/ADR cells are reported.

Pinellia pedatisecta agglutinin targets drug resistant K562/ADR leukemia cells through binding with sarcolemmal membrane associated protein and enhancing macrophage phagocytosis. [PDF]
Pinelliapedatisecta agglutinin (PPA) has previously been used in labeling fractions of myeloid leukemia cells in our laboratory. We report here that a bacterial expressed recombinant PPA domain b tagged with soluble coxsackie and adenovirus receptor ...

Single cell measurement of telomerase expression and splicing using microfluidic emulsion cultures. [PDF]
Telomerase is a reverse transcriptase that maintains telomeres on the ends of chromosomes, allowing rapidly dividing cells to proliferate while avoiding senescence and apoptosis.

Autophagy enhanced antitumor effect in K562 and K562/ADM cells using realgar transforming solution
Realgar transforming solution (RTS) can be produced from a biotransformation process by using microorganisms cultured with realgar in our lab. RTS has been demonstrated as a novel arsenic anti-leukemia agent in K562 and K562/ADM. However, its underlying mechanism is unclear.
