On the Symmetry of the Distribution of $k$-Crossings and $k$-Nestings in Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2006
This note contains two results on the distribution of $k$-crossings and $k$-nestings in graphs. On the positive side, we exhibit a class of graphs for which there are as many $k$-noncrossing $2$-nonnesting graphs as $k$-nonnesting $2$-noncrossing graphs. This class consists of the graphs on $[n]$ where each vertex $x$ is joined to at most one vertex $y$

Airborne Laser Scanning for the Site Type Identification of Mature Boreal Forest Stands

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2011
In Finland, forest site types are used to assess the need of silvicultural operations and the growth potential of the forests and, therefore, provide important inventory information.

Research on Distribution Network Security Analysis Based on K(N-1+k) Criterion and Rank Preference Optimal Ordering

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
The objective of security analysis is to find the weak link of distribution network. The K(N-1+k) criterion based on the characteristics of distribution network was proposed for distribution network security analysis. According to the K(N-1+k) criterion,

K-distribution Clutter Simulation Methods Based on Improved ZMNL and SIRP

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2014
Zero Memory NonLinearity (ZMNL) and Spherically Invariant Random Process (SIRP) are two commonly used methods in K-distribution clutter simulations. An improved simulation method, which adds abranch of Gamma-distributed variable and extends the shape ...

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

A method for estimating the parameters of the K distribution

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1999
A method that combines the maximum likelihood and the method of moments for estimating the parameters of the K distribution is proposed. The method results in the lowest variance of parameter estimates when compared with existing non-ML techniques.

Health‐Related Social Needs in Children With Sickle Cell Disease Are Associated With Worse Health‐Related Quality of Life

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) face multiple acute and chronic medical complications that may impact their quality of life as reported by patients themselves. Health‐related social needs (HRSNs), such as food and housing insecurity, are common in people with SCD, but the association between HRSNs and patient‐reported ...

The Combined Effect of Obesity and Contraceptive Use on Pulmonary Embolism in Adolescent Females Residing in the United States

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Combined oral contraceptive (COC) use in obese adult women dramatically increases the relative risk of developing a pulmonary embolism (PE). The risk of a PE in obese adolescent females taking contraceptives is currently unknown. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of body mass index (BMI) and contraceptive
