A Periodic 4‐h Extension of the Dark Period Did Not Cause Long‐Term Changes in the Circadian Regulation of Photosynthesis and Sugar Levels in Lettuces

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The photoperiod in controlled environment agriculture can be adjusted to minimize electricity consumption, even if it differs from the plant's circadian rhythm. Daily modifications of the photoperiod disrupt the plant's circadian resonance state, resulting in altered growth and yield.
