Finite-Size Effects on Return Interval Distributions for Weakest-Link-Scaling Systems
The Weibull distribution is a commonly used model for the strength of brittle materials and earthquake return intervals. Deviations from Weibull scaling, however, have been observed in earthquake return intervals and in the fracture strength of quasi ...

Beyond the Edge: Charge‐Transfer Excitons in Organic Donor‐Acceptor Cocrystals
Complex excitonic landscapes in acene–perfluoroacene cocrystals are unveiled by polarization‐resolved optical spectroscopy and many‐body theory. This systematic study of a prototypical model system for weakly interacting donor–acceptor compounds challenges common views of charge‐transfer excitons, providing a refined conceptual framework for ...

Correlations and Kappa Distributions: Numerical Experiment and Physical Understanding
Kappa distributions, their statistical framework, and their thermodynamic origin describe systems with correlations among their particle energies, residing in stationary states out of classical thermal equilibrium/space plasmas, from solar wind to the ...

Thermodynamics and magnetic field profiles in low-kappa type-II superconductors
Two-dimensional low-kappa type-II superconductors are studied numerically within the Eilenberger equations of superconductivity. Depending on the Ginzburg-Landau parameter \kappa=\lambda/\xi vortex-vortex interaction can be attractive or purely repulsive.

Shaping of Biohybrid Functional Living Materials
This work demonstrates a strategy for shaping living mycelium into functional materials by directing its natural growth. Nanoparticles armor hyphae, micron‐scale particles entangle within the network, and printed hydrogel architectures steer expansion, creating defined geometries.

Extreme CII emission in type 2 quasars at z~2.5: a signature of kappa-distributed electron energies?
We investigate the flux ratio between the 1335 A and 2326 A lines of singly ionized carbon in the extended narrow line regions of type 2 quasars at z~2.5.

We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.
