A Bivariate $\kappa$- $\mu$ Distribution

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2016
In this paper, a bivariate $\kappa$ - $\mu$ model is presented. Exact expressions for the 1) joint probability density function, the 2) joint cumulative distribution function, 3) joint arbitrary moments, and the 4) normalized envelope correlation coefficient are derived. The joint statistics are given in terms of their respective parameters

Quasi-thermal noise in space plasma: “kappa” distributions

Physics of Plasmas, 2009
The transport of energy in collisionless plasmas, especially in space plasmas, is far from being understood. Measuring the temperature of the electrons and their nonthermal properties can give important clues to understand the transport properties. Quasi-thermal noise (QTN) spectroscopy is a reliable tool for measuring accurately the electron density ...

The $$\kappa $$ κ -Generalized Distribution

2015
This chapter introduces the \(\kappa \)-generalized distribution and its interrelations with other statistical distributions. It also provides the basic statistical properties and inferential aspects of this parametric model as well as aspects that are of special interest in the income distribution field, including the Lorenz curve and inequality ...

The four-parameter kappa distribution

IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1994
Summary: Many common probability distributions, including some that have attracted recent interest for flood-frequency analysis, may be regarded as special cases of a four-parameter distribution that generalizes the three- parameter kappa distribution of \textit{P. W. Mielke} [J. Appl. Meteorol. 12, 275-280 (1973)].
