The sampling distribution of kappa.
Behavioural processes, 2006Research on Herrnstein's single-schedule equation contains conflicting findings; some laboratories report variations in the k parameter with reinforcer value, and others report constancy. The reported variation in k typically occurs across very low reinforcer values, and constancy applies across higher values.

Distributivity and base trees for $P(\kappa)/ {\lt} \kappa$
Canadian Mathematical BulletinAbstractFor $\kappa $ a regular uncountable cardinal, we show that distributivity and base trees for $P(\kappa )/{<}\kappa $ of intermediate height in the cardinal interval $[\omega , \kappa )$ exist in certain models. We also show that base trees of height $\kappa $ can exist as well as base trees of various heights $\geq \kappa ...

Entropy-Based Parameter Estimation for Kappa Distribution
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2003Proposed in this study is an approach to estimate regional evapotranspiration from potential evaporation using a distributed hydrologic model. If water is freely available in the storage tank of interest, evapotranspiration is taken as Penman’s potential evaporation.

The Nature of Single Fiber Kappa Distributions
TAPPI Journal, 2009We examined the uniformity of a variety of kraft pulps with the University of Washington’s single fiber kappa analyzer (FKA). Some consistent patterns and trends with regard to pulp uniformity have emerged. This paper provides a synthesis of the significant observations we made in examining the kappa uniformity of kraft pulps.

More on the four-parameter kappa distribution
Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2001The generalized extreme-value has been the distribution of choice for modeling available maxima (or minima) data since theory has shown it to be the limiting form of the distribution of extremes. However, fits to finite samples are not always adequate.

Strong Langmuir turbulence in Kappa distributed plasmas
Physics of Plasmas, 2012Superthermal electrons are often observed in space and astrophysics and can be appropriate modeled by the family of Kappa distribution functions. Taking the nonlinear wave-wave, wave-particle interactions and the effect of superthermal electrons into account, the strong Langmuir turbulence is investigated in kinetic regime.

Kappa Performance Measures with Johnson Distributions [PDF]
In this paper, we analyze the Kappa performance measures of portfolio returns having Johnson distributions. Kappa performance measures are based on downside risk measures, which better allows evaluating risk and performance of complex returns such as those of hedge funds. These measures take account of the whole return distribution.

Debye length in a kappa-distribution plasma
Journal of Plasma Physics, 1996The Debye length, the characteristic shielding distance in a plasma, is, when the electrons and ions have Maxwellian velocity distributions, determined by the ratio of the temperatures of these components, to the electron (or ion) number density. Plasmas encountered in space, however, commonly exhibit non-Maxwellian velocity distributions, where the ...
