KCNQ Channels are Sensors of Cell Volume
2006Many important physiological processes involve changes in cell volume, e.g., the transport of salt and water in epithelial cells and the contraction of muscle cells. These cells respond to swelling with a so-called regulatory volume decrease which involves the activation of K+ channels.

Mutation-prone points in KCNQ.
Experimental and clinical cardiology, 2011KCNQ channels play important roles in controlling membrane excitability. A reduction in KCNQ channel activity due to genetic mutation is responsible for various human diseases, including arrhythmia.A combined bioinformatics analysis was performed to study the positions that are at risk for mutation within the amino acid sequence of KCNQ.
