The KEGG databases at GenomeNet [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2002
The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) is the primary database resource of the Japanese GenomeNet service (http://www.genome.ad.jp/) for understanding higher order functional meanings and utilities of the cell or the organism from its genome information.

Using the KEGG Database Resource

Current Protocols in Bioinformatics, 2012
AbstractKEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) is a bioinformatics resource for understanding the functions and utilities of cells and organisms from both high‐level and genomic perspectives. It is a self‐sufficient, integrated resource consisting of genomic, chemical, and network information, with cross‐references to numerous outside databases.

Querying KEGG pathways in logic

International Journal of Data Mining and Bioinformatics, 2014
Understanding the interaction patterns among biological entities in a pathway can potentially reveal the role of the entities in biological systems. Although considerable effort has been contributed to this direction, querying biological pathways remained relatively unexplored.

Computation with the KEGG pathway database

Biosystems, 1998
We introduce and discuss a new computational approach towards prediction and inference of biological functions from genomic sequences by making use of the pathway data in KEGG. Due to its piecewise nature, the current approach of predicting each gene function based on sequence similarity searches often fails to reconstruct cellular functions with all ...

Glycomic Analysis Using KEGG GLYCAN

2015
This chapter describes the KEGG GLYCAN database of the KEGG resource, including descriptions of links to the other databases in KEGG. In particular, KEGG GLYCAN consists of glycan structures, with links to glycogenes, orthologs, reactions, pathways, drugs, diseases, and others, all within the KEGG resources.

Mining Maximal Frequent Subgraphs in KEGG Reaction Networks

2009 20th International Workshop on Database and Expert Systems Application, 2009
In this paper we employ a recent algorithm by Zantema et al. for detecting maximal frequent subgraphs (MFS) in collections of graphs corresponding tobiological networks from the KEGG database. Each graph of a particular collection corresponds to one organism and represents one pathway or a union of pathways of this organism.
