Dioxane lignins of kenaf bast and tow
Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 19791. Dioxane lignins have been isolated from the outer (bast) and inner (tow) parts of kenaf of the variety Uzbekskii 15–74, and the semiempirical formulas of the phenylpropane structural units of these dioxanes have been calculated on the basis of elementary and functional analyses.

Kenaf bast cellulosic fibers hierarchy: A comprehensive approach from micro to nano
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2014Cellulosic fibers from kenaf bast were isolated in three distinct stages. Initially raw kenaf bast fibers were subjected to an alkali pulping process. Then pulped fibers undergone a bleaching process and finally both pulped and bleached fibers were separated into their constituent nanoscale cellulosic fibers by mechanical shearing.

Multi stage peroxide and activated peroxide bleaching of kenaf bast pulp
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2013Soda-anthraquinone kenaf bast pulp (12.5 kappa number and 32% ISO brightness) has been bleached with multi stage peroxide bleaching process. Bleaching process was carried out in different sequences of peroxide stage without and with activator (tetraacetylethylenediamine, TAED) to about 80% ISO brightness.

Weibull distribution analysis of the tensile strength of the kenaf bast fiber
Fibers and Polymers, 2016This paper presents the influence of the gage length on the kenaf fiber Young’s modulus and the tensile strength characterization. Four different gage lengths of 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm and 25.4 mm are selected in this study and the tensile testing is performed at a quasi-static loading rate of 1 mm/min.

The delignification conditions such as temperature, reaction time, and sodium chlorite (NaClO2) loading were optimized from the viewpoints of density, tensile strength, and reactivity of grafting.
