Brain metastasis‐associated fibroblasts shape the tumour microenvironment to enhance cancer cell invasion

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Brain metastasis‐associated fibroblasts are active stromal components of the metastatic niche characterised by extracellular matrix remodelling and production of pro‐migratory mediators. They promote monocyte and cancer cell migration and enhance cancer cell invasion while having no growth‐promoting effect on cancer cells.

Targeting KRAS for cancer therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
In recent years, therapeutics targeted against KRAS proto‐oncogene GTPase (KRAS)‐mutant cancers have seen significant progress. Herein we outline the biology and epidemiology of KRAS alterations at the lineage and allele levels, reviewing the clinical evidence for KRASG12C inhibition from the discovery of the recessive switch pocket to sotorasib ...

Downregulation of KRTAP2‐3 Suppresses Proliferation and Tumor Formation of Oral Cancer Cells via Inactivation of KRAS Signals

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
KRTAP2‐3 drives OSCC progression by sustaining both mesenchymal and proliferative properties through KRAS signaling. Loss of KRTAP2‐3 induces MET, suppresses KRAS pathway activation, and markedly reduces tumor cell proiferation and tumor formation as illustarted in Figure.

Mitochondrial Morphology Dynamics Remodel Metabolism and Affect TKI Sensitivity in EGFR‐Mutated Lung Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
TKI treatment promotes mitochondrial fission and metabolic reprogramming toward oxidative phosphorylation in residual EGFR‐mutant lung cancer cells. Targeting this metabolic vulnerability restores TKI sensitivity and provides a promising strategy to overcome acquired resistance.

Itgb1‐Mediated Stabilization of Vimentin Alleviates Excessive Mechanical Stress‐Induced Nucleus Pulposus Cell Pyroptosis and Intervertebral Disc Degeneration via PINK1‐Parkin‐Dependent Mitophagy

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Excessive mechanical stress induces nucleus pulposus cell pyroptosis and intervertebral disc degeneration. Itgb1 inhibits MNAT1‐mediated ubiquitination and degradation of Vimentin. Vimentin alleviates excessive mechanical stress‐induced nucleus pulposus cell pyroptosis and intervertebral disc degeneration through PINK1‐Parkin‐dependent mitophagy ...

Cysteine-s-sulfonated keratin-based nanofibers – filtration and biomedical applications

open access: yes
Keratin is a fibrous protein that can be extracted from multiple sustainable resources (animal fibers, feathers, hair and horns) by sulfitolysis extraction in aqueous solutions.

AI‐Assisted Fungal Detection in Dermatopathology: A Study on Accuracy, Efficiency, and Usability

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Background and Objectives AI‐based image analysis is increasingly applied in pathology. Excluding fungal elements in PAS‐stained skin sections is labor‐intensive and well suited for AI assistance. While fungal detection in nails has been studied, skin‐biopsy applications and real‐world benefit remain limited.
