Molecular Carcinogenesis, 1993
AbstractWe have recently reported that cell lines of nonparenchymal origin isolated from rat liver and pancreas, which have been suggested to be the progeny of a facultative stem cell compartment in vivo, express an unusual combination of keratins (K).

Unexpected Low Bone Mass Induced by Global Deletion of Keratin 18 But Not Keratin 19 in Mice
PhysiologyWork from our lab has investigated the role of the cytoskeleton in osteoblasts and osteocytes. Our prior work has shown a role for a subset of post-translationally modified tubulin in the osteocyte response to mechanical stimuli and an unexpected role for the type IV intermediate

The keratin 19 promoter is potent for cell-specific targeting of genes in transgenic mice
Gastroenterology, 2001Keratins are intermediate filaments that are critical in cytoskeletal organization. Their roles in cellular processes are underscored by inherited human diseases in which germline mutations of keratins are found, as well as by transgenic and knockout mouse models that recapitulate those diseases.

Retinoic acid mediates post-transcriptional regulation of keratin 19 mrna levels
Journal of Cell Science, 1993ABSTRACT Stratified squamous epithelia have been shown to preferentially express a site-specific pattern of keratin intermediate filaments. Retinoic acid (RA) is known to modulate expression of the basal cell keratins K19 and K5. Expression of these genes is dependent on extracellular RA concentration.
