Kernel methods in machine learning

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 2008
We review machine learning methods employing positive definite kernels. These methods formulate learning and estimation problems in a reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS) of functions defined on the data domain, expanded in terms of a kernel. Working in linear spaces of function has the benefit of facilitating the construction and analysis of ...

Adaptive kernel methods

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2003
Abstract This paper discusses the Least Squares Support Vector Machine and implementing adaptive on-line algorithms based on recursive least squares algorithms. The algorithms are of moderate complexity and can implement nonlinear decision regions which make it suitable for many applications in communication and signal processing.

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Leveraging Random Effects in Cistrome‐Wide Association Studies for Decoding the Genetic Determinants of Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Cistrome‐wide association studies (CWAS) are pivotal for identifying genetic determinants of diseases by correlating genetically regulated cistrome states with phenotypes. Traditional CWAS typically develops a model based on cistrome and genotype data to
