Ultimate Performance Of Kerr Nonlinear Plasmonics Waveguides
Nonlinear Optics, 2017Plasmonic structures are promising because they strongly enhance light-matter interactions. Here we compare different one-dimensional plasmonic structures comparing them with dielectric ones in order to establish the ultimate performance of Kerr nonlinearities in these structures.

Brillouin penalty in Kerr-based nonlinear devices
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO 2000). Technical Digest. Postconference Edition. TOPS Vol.39 (IEEE Cat. No.00CH37088), 2000Summary form only given. Recent work showed cross-phase modulation (XPM) has interesting features, almost unlimited speed of operation and wide operation bandwidth, for all-optical signal processing such as in nonlinear optical loop mirror-based wavelength conversion.

Discrete Vector Solitons in Kerr Nonlinear Waveguide Arrays
Physical Review Letters, 2003We report the first experimental observation of discrete vector solitons in AlGaAs nonlinear waveguide arrays. These self-trapped states are possible through the coexistence of two orthogonally polarized fields and are stable in spite of the presence of four-wave mixing effects.

Electromagnetic scattering by nonlinear dielectric cylinders with non‐kerr‐like nonlinearities
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1995AbstractIn this letter, electromagnetic scattering by nonlinear dielectric cylinders under transverse magnetic illumination is considered. The nonlinearity is assumed to be so weak as to allow the application of an iterative approach based on the distorted‐wave Born approximation.

Kerr nonlinearity and Kerr-like nonlinearity induced via terahertz generation and the electro-optical effect in ZnTe crystal are investigated. In general, these nonlinear effects are concomitant and difficult to quantitatively analyze in the time domain.

Thermodynamic properties of a Kerr nonlinear blackbody
Physical Review E, 2012Within the framework of quantum field theory, we present the superfluid state of photons in a blackbody whose interior is filled by a Kerr nonlinear crystal. The thermodynamic properties of a Kerr nonlinear blackbody are investigated. At the transition temperature, the Gibbs free energy of the two phases is continuous but the entropy density of the two

Nonlinear optics: Terahertz Kerr effect
2010The optical Kerr effect is a well-known phenomenon in which an electric field creates birefringence in a material. Researchers have now demonstrated this effect using single-cycle terahertz pulses - instead of optical pulses - in a variety of ...

Nonlinear cross-Kerr quasiclassical dynamics
2014We study the quasiclassical dynamics of the cross-Kerr effect. In this approximation, the typical periodical revivals of the decorrelation between the two polarization modes disappear and remain entangled. By mapping the dynamics onto the Poincaré space, we find simple conditions for polarization squeezing.
