Dual-Bifurcation Model and Numerical Analysis of Driving Forces on the Keyhole Boundary in Variable Polarity Plasma Arc Welding

open access: yesCrystals
Molten pool flow and keyhole status during Variable Polarity Plasma Arc (VPPA) welding directly affect the weld quality and stability. The lack of a clear correlation between them, however, prevents this process approach from being developed further.

The Efficacy and Safety of <2 cm Micro-Keyhole Microvascular Decompression for Hemifacial Spasm

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2021
Objective: Microvascular decompression (MVD) surgery has been accepted as a minimally invasive surgical modality for the treatment of hemifacial spasm (HFS). However, the size of the bone window does not match the concept of minimally invasive.

A Chemically Defined Four‐Component Self‐Adjuvanting Tn Vaccine Activating Mincle, FcγR, and CD206 for Enhanced Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully synthetic four‐component vaccine has been developed combining Tn antigen, vizantin (Mincle agonist), rhamnose (antibody recruitment), and mannose (CD206 targeting). By synergistically activating Mincle, FcγR, and CD206 pathways, it elicits strong IgG switching and cytotoxic T‐cells, significantly inhibiting tumors in mice.

New craniodental materials of Falcarius utahensis (Theropoda: Therizinosauria) reveal patterns of intraspecific variation and cranial evolution in early coelurosaurians

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite documented ecomorphological shifts toward an herbivorous diet in several coelurosaurian lineages, the evolutionary tempo and mode of these changes remain poorly understood, hampered by sparse cranial materials for early representatives of major clades. This is particularly true for Therizinosauria, with representative crania best known

Numerical and experimental study of the variation of keyhole depth with an aluminum alloy (AA1050)

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Joining Processes
The keyhole depth is a key measurement characteristic in the laser welding of busbar to battery tabs in battery packs for electric vehicles (EV), as it directly affects the quality of the weld.

Morpho‐functional analyses of the jaw apparatus in the Blue‐and‐yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna, Psittaciformes, Aves): Adaptations to feeding behavior

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Macaws are renowned for processing dry, mechanically resistant fruits, yet the species‐level anatomical and functional correlates of this performance remain incompletely resolved. We examined the feeding apparatus of the Blue‐and‐yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) using an integrated approach that combines osteology, myology, and bite‐force estimates

Historical remote sensing highlights long‐term persistence of Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) colonies

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Remote sensing can reveal population dynamics of Antarctic penguin colonies. In this study, we analyze emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) guano stains in remote sensing imagery and discover colony presence predating known records for 18 colonies across Antarctica.

Numerical Simulation of the Relation between Plasma Reflection and Keyhole Dimension in the Keyhole PAW Process

open access: yes, 2011
A three-dimensional mathematical model has been established to research the relation between the plasma reflection and status of keyhole during the keyhole PAW processing.
