The revision of baphetids from the Middle Pennsylvanian of the Czech Republic: Morphology, ontogeny, palaeoecology, and the reassessment of the phylogeny of Baphetoidea

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The baphetoids represent a clade of the Carboniferous stem‐tetrapods (Middle Mississippian—Middle Pennsylvanian) with a characteristic extension of the orbits into antorbital vacuities, which formed keyhole‐shaped openings on the skull. The more derived baphetids were crocodile‐like piscivores frequently occurring in coal‐bearing lacustrine ...

Numerical and experimental study of the variation of keyhole depth with an aluminum alloy (AA1050)

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Joining Processes
The keyhole depth is a key measurement characteristic in the laser welding of busbar to battery tabs in battery packs for electric vehicles (EV), as it directly affects the quality of the weld.

New craniodental materials of Falcarius utahensis (Theropoda: Therizinosauria) reveal patterns of intraspecific variation and cranial evolution in early coelurosaurians

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite documented ecomorphological shifts toward an herbivorous diet in several coelurosaurian lineages, the evolutionary tempo and mode of these changes remain poorly understood, hampered by sparse cranial materials for early representatives of major clades. This is particularly true for Therizinosauria, with representative crania best known

Slide release mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A releasable support device is described which is comprised of a hollow body with a sleeve extending transversely there-through for receiving the end of a support shank.

Morpho‐functional analyses of the jaw apparatus in the Blue‐and‐yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna, Psittaciformes, Aves): Adaptations to feeding behavior

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Macaws are renowned for processing dry, mechanically resistant fruits, yet the species‐level anatomical and functional correlates of this performance remain incompletely resolved. We examined the feeding apparatus of the Blue‐and‐yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) using an integrated approach that combines osteology, myology, and bite‐force estimates

Frozen Differential Scattering in Reconfigurable Complex Media

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A localized perturbation universally results in a rank‐one update of the scattering matrix of any complex medium. The resulting differential output wavefront is “frozen”: its spatial pattern is fixed (agnostic to the input wavefront). Experiments with a programmable‐metasurface‐parametrized wireless link validate frozen differential scattering and ...

Dynamic MR-Imaging with Radial Scanning, a Post-Acquisition Keyhole Approach

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2003
A new method for 2D/3D dynamic MR-Imaging with radial scanning is proposed. It exploits the inherent strong oversampling in the centre of -space, which holds crucial temporal information of the contrast evolution.

Historical remote sensing highlights long‐term persistence of Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) colonies

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Remote sensing can reveal population dynamics of Antarctic penguin colonies. In this study, we analyze emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) guano stains in remote sensing imagery and discover colony presence predating known records for 18 colonies across Antarctica.

Front-side monitoring technology for back-side keyhole state in VPPAW

open access: yesHanjie xuebao
In the process of variable polarity plasma arc welding (VPPAW), the state of the keyhole, particularly the back-side keyhole, was a critical factor influencing the weld formation quality.
