Evolutionary patterns and structural divergence of CENH3 in legumes: Implications for haploid induction breeding

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
From structure to application: evolutionary insights and genome editing strategies for CENH3‐mediated haploid induction in legumes. Abstract Background The centromeric histone variant CENH3 is crucial for chromosome segregation and haploid induction in plants, yet its evolutionary patterns in legumes remain poorly characterized. Methods We investigated

Keyhole Flap Nipple Reconstruction

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery - Global Open, 2016
Summary: Nipple-areola reconstruction is often one of the final but most challenging aspects of breast reconstruction. However, it is an integral and important component of breast reconstruction because it transforms the mound into a breast. We performed 133 nipple-areola reconstructions during a period of 4 years.

Optical Coherence Tomography for High‐Precision Industrial Inspection in Industry 4.0: Advances, Challenges, and Future Trends

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This review examines how optical coherence tomography transforms industrial inspection by delivering real‐time, micrometer‐resolution, depth‐resolved imaging. It surveys applications across display manufacturing, thin films, microelectronics, laser processing, and coatings, evaluates performance against conventional techniques, and highlights emerging ...

Numerical and experimental study of the variation of keyhole depth with an aluminum alloy (AA1050)

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Joining Processes
The keyhole depth is a key measurement characteristic in the laser welding of busbar to battery tabs in battery packs for electric vehicles (EV), as it directly affects the quality of the weld.

Towards Designing a Credible Hazardous NEA Mitigation Campaign of Dual-deflection Act [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Given a limited warning time, an asteroid impact mitigation campaign would hinge on uncertainty-based information consisting of remote observational data of the identified Earth-threatening object, general knowledge on near-Earth asteroids, and ...

Constructive Matrix Theory for Higher Order Interaction

open access: yes, 2019
This paper provides an extension of the constructive loop vertex expansion to stable matrix models with interactions of arbitrarily high order. We introduce a new representation for such models, then perform a forest expansion on this representation.

Frozen Differential Scattering in Reconfigurable Complex Media

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A localized perturbation universally results in a rank‐one update of the scattering matrix of any complex medium. The resulting differential output wavefront is “frozen”: its spatial pattern is fixed (agnostic to the input wavefront). Experiments with a programmable‐metasurface‐parametrized wireless link validate frozen differential scattering and ...

Cranio-Orbital and Orbitocranial Approaches to Orbital and Intracranial Disease: Eye-Opening Approaches for Neurosurgeons

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2020
Orbital approaches for targeting intracranial, orbital, and infratemporal disease have evolved over the years in an effort to discover safe, reliable, effective, and cosmetically satisfying surgical corridors.

Metallographic evaluation of the weldability of high strength aluminium alloys using friction spot welding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Friction spot welding is a recent solid-state welding technique well suited for spot-joining lightweight materials in overlap condition. Aerospace and transport industries show great interest in this technique to join high-strength aluminium alloys, but ...

Historical remote sensing highlights long‐term persistence of Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) colonies

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Remote sensing can reveal population dynamics of Antarctic penguin colonies. In this study, we analyze emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) guano stains in remote sensing imagery and discover colony presence predating known records for 18 colonies across Antarctica.
