Synaptic κ‐Ga2O3 Photodetectors for Privacy‐Enhancing Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report on a single‐element neuromorphic sensor based on the persistent photoconductivity (PPC) of κ‐phase Ga2O3 capable of sensing ultraviolet light and harnessing intrinsic data privacy. The approach establishes a materials‐enabled pathway toward compact, intelligent, and privacy‐enhancing optoelectronic hardware for next‐generation edge systems ...

People Counting and Positioning Using Low‐Resolution Infrared Images for FeFET‐Based In‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, low‐resolution infrared imaging is combined with a 28 nm FeFET IMC architecture to enable compact, energy‐efficient edge inference. MLC FeFET devices are experimentally characterized, and controlled multi‐level current accumulation is validated at crossbar array level.

Severe rhabdomyolysis associated with catha edulis(khat) use

open access: yesCase Reports in Clinical Pathology, 2014
Severe rhabdomyolysis is a rare complication of exposure to the recreational drug khat. Adverse reactions to khat thathave been reported in the literature include myocardial infarction and reversible vasoconstriction syndrome. Theactive ingredient, cathinone, is a naturally occurring beta-ketone amphetamine that may be responsible for this ...

Sustainable Productivity Growth in Agriculture: The Role of Shifts in R&D Investments and Technology

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The objective of the paper is to evaluate the long‐term prospects of sustainable productivity growth linked to plausible assumptions on public agricultural R&D investments as the key productivity driver. Second, it investigates the role of changing R&D focus from yield maximization to input saving technologies (fertilizers and pesticides). The

Khat chewing and cardiovascular disease

open access: yesHeart Views, 2022
Khat chewing is a deeply rooted habit in Yemen. It has social, economic, and medical problems. Chronic use of khat chewing increases the risk of many medical complications. Cathinone, the main khat leaf constituent, has an indirect sympathomimetic action.

Khat use and users readiness to quit khat, qualitative research in the case of street people in Addis Ababa

open access: yesJournal of Addiction Therapy and Research, 2022
Khat is a huge green plant that thrives at high elevations throughout the region ranging from southern to eastern Africa, and in the Arabian Peninsula. However, chewing Khat became common among the young (youth). The objectives of this study were to investigate the khat use behavior, users’ self-understanding, and their readiness of stopping using khat
