G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are increasingly being considered as possible therapeutic targets in cancers. Activation of GPCR on tumors can have prominent growth effects, and GPCRs are frequently over-/ectopically expressed on tumors and thus can ...

Urinary cholesterol in cancer screening [PDF]
Cholesterol determinations in morning urine samples were taken in 235 selected patients with a positive test for microscopic hematuria. Values ranged from 0.2 to 76.0 mg (median 5.5) in 23 patients with urologic malignancies and from 0.1 to 33.4 mg ...

Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Ovarian cancer (OV) has the highest mortality rate among gynecological cancers. As OV progresses, tumor cells spread outside the ovaries to the peritoneal and abdominal cavities, forming cell clusters that float in the ascitic fluid caused by peritonitis

ORGAN SPECIFIC VASCULAR RESPONSE TO FIBROSIS AFFECTS BREAST CANCER METASTATIC ORGANOTROPISM [PDF]
The solid tumor microenvironment, pre-metastatic niche, and fibrotic environment are known to have significant biochemical and biomechanical similarities to the fibrotic environment. All have significantly increased levels of factors such as TGFβ, HIF1α,

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

AM-37 and ST-36 Are Small Molecule Bombesin Receptor Antagonists
While peptide antagonists for the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (BB2R), neuromedin B receptor (BB1R), and bombesin (BB) receptor subtype-3 (BRS-3) exist, there is a need to develop non-peptide small molecule inhibitors for all three BBR.

Studies on the clinical significance of nonesterified and total cholesterol in urine [PDF]
Gas-liquid chromatographic determinations of nonesterified and total urinary cholesterol were performed in 137 normals, 264 patients with various internal diseases without evidence of neoplasias or diseases of the kidney or urinary tract, 497 patients ...
