Ameliorative Effects of Two Forms of Pomegranate on Glomerular Transvertical Diameter in Steroid- Induced Kidney Damage in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Rawalpindi Medical College, 2017
To observe the effects of Pomegranate juice (PJ) and Pomegranate peel extract (PPE) on glomerular transvertical diameter in steroid induced mice kidney damage. Methods: In this experimental study forty healthy adult mice (BALB/c strain), average weighing

Immunomodulatory Hydrogel Coating with SeNPs and Lithium Silicate Synergistically Promotes Osseointegration and Prevents Infection on Titanium Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a multifunctional hydrogel coating (Lap‐CMCSMA/GelMA@SeNPs) that scavenges ROS, modulates immune responses, and shows strong antibacterial activity. It effectively restores the peri‐implant microenvironment. The coating exhibits excellent biocompatibility and promotes osteogenic differentiation.

Comparative analysis of primary and secondary glomerulopathies in the northeast of Brazil: data from the Pernambuco Registry of Glomerulopathies - REPEG

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Nephrology
Introduction: In Brazil, glomerulopathies are the third leading cause of chronic renal disease, accounting for 11% of dialysis patients. Studies on the prevalence of this disease in Northeastern Brazil are scarce.

PBLD Orchestrates the STING‐Mediated Antiviral Immune Response and Autoimmune Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During viral infection, PBLD expression is downregulated, thereby subverting host antiviral defenses and promoting viral replication. This study identifies PBLD as a positive regulator of STING‐induced type I interferon activation and delineated the molecular network underlying PBLD‐mediated antiviral immunity and autoimmune pathogenesis, highlighting ...

A comparative molecular approach to mesodermal patterning in basal deuterostomes: the expression pattern of Brachyury in the enteropneust hemichordate Ptychodera flava [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This work concerns the formation of mesoderm in the development of an enteropneust hemichordate, Ptychodera flava, and the expression of the Brachyury gene during this process. Brachyury expression occurs in two distinct phases.

A pH‐Responsive Biomimetic Antioxidant Nanoplatform with Dual Renal Targeting for Synergistic Therapy of Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic nanoplatform (CeAst@MK) is engineered for precise therapy of acute kidney injury by integrating cerium‐based antioxidation, natural flavonoid astragalin, and macrophage membrane camouflage. Featuring kidney‐targeted and pH‐responsive release, CeAst@MK scavenges ROS, suppresses inflammation, and restores renal function via modulation of ...

Deep-learning model for evaluating histopathology of acute renal tubular injury

open access: yesScientific Reports
Tubular injury is the most common cause of acute kidney injury. Histopathological diagnosis may help distinguish between the different types of acute kidney injury and aid in treatment.

ORGAN SPECIFIC VASCULAR RESPONSE TO FIBROSIS AFFECTS BREAST CANCER METASTATIC ORGANOTROPISM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The solid tumor microenvironment, pre-metastatic niche, and fibrotic environment are known to have significant biochemical and biomechanical similarities to the fibrotic environment. All have significantly increased levels of factors such as TGFβ, HIF1α,

SETDB2 Mitigates Podocyte Dysfunction in Diabetic Kidney Disease Through Epigenetic Silencing of SMAD3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SETDB2 epigenetically represses Smad3 transcription by increasing H3K9me3 enrichment at its promoter, thereby mitigating podocyte dysfunction in DKD. The transcription factor TCF21 binds directly to the Setdb2 promoter and enhances its expression in podocytes. Abstract Podocyte dysfunction represents both an early pathological hallmark and a key driver
