A Paired Kidney Analysis of Simultaneous Heart-Kidney Transplantation and Kidney Transplantation After Heart Transplantation

open access: yesAnnals of Surgery Open
Objective: To assess the outcomes of a pair of kidneys from a single donor used for simultaneous heart-kidney transplantation (SHKT) or kidney after heart transplantation (KAH). Background: An Increase in kidney dysfunction among heart transplant candidates has led to an increased ...

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Assessment of Risk Factors for Hospital Readmission after Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesعلوم بهداشتی ایران, 2021
Background and Purpose: Hospital readmission after kidney transplantation is a real challenge for both patients and healthcare systems. Assessment of the risk factors of readmission after kidney transplantation is vital and can reduce morbidity and cost ...

Racial Disparities in Preemptive Referral for Kidney Transplantation in Georgia

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, 2018
Racial disparities persist in access to kidney transplantation. Racial differences in preemptive referral, or referral prior to dialysis start, may explain this discrepancy.

NUP85 Mediates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress through the USP47/ASK1 Signaling Pathway to Regulate the Progression of Liver Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the present study, we have demonstrated that the NUP85‐USP47‐ASK1 signaling pathway may have regulated the progression of liver fibrosis through modulating ERS. Additionally, we have developed a CREKA‐coupled liposome to target delivery of MV, a pharmacological inhibitor of NUP85, to activated HSCs, thereby attenuating liver fibrosis. ABSTRACT Liver

Feasibility Constraints and Protective Behavior in Efficient Kidney Exchange [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a model of Kidney-Exchange that incorporates the main European institutional features. We assume that patients do not consider all compatible kidneys homogeneous and patients are endowed with reservation values over the minimal quality of the ...

Mycophenolate mofetil inhibits lymphocyte binding and the upregulation of adhesion molecules in acute rejection of rat kidney allografts.

open access: yes, 1996
Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) interacts with purine metabolism and possibly with the expression of adhesion molecules. In the present study, we analysed the expression of these molecules in transplanted kidney allografts treated with RS LBNF1 kidneys were ...

Urologic malignancies in kidney transplantation

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Transplantation, 2018
With advances in immunosuppression, graft and patient outcomes after kidney transplantation have improved considerably. As a result, long‐term complications of transplantation, such as urologic malignancies, have become increasingly important.

Legumain Restrains Granuloma Formation by Inhibiting mTORC1/STAT1‐Mediated M1 Macrophage Polarization in Sarcoidosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Legumain (LGMN) is upregulated in macrophages during sarcoid‑like granuloma formation. Macrophage‑derived LGMN binds to integrin αvβ3 and suppresses mTORC1/STAT1 signaling to restrain M1 macrophage polarization. Intratracheal delivery of lipid nanoparticles carrying Lgmn plasmid DNA (pDNA) elevates LGMN expression and effectively attenuates pulmonary ...
