Kinase insert domain-containing receptor kinase inhibitors as anti-angiogenic agents

Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2002
A variety of data accumulated during the past 10 years indicates that vascular endothelial growth factor-mediated angiogenesis is a key process in the growth of solid tumours. Efficacious and specific modulation of that signalling event through the inhibition of the cognate tyrosine kinase kinase insert domain-containing receptor (Flk-1) has been ...

The Kinase Insert Domain-containing Receptor (KDR) is Regulated by Shear Stress

Scandinavian Cardiovascular Journal, 2002
Intimal hyperplasia develops in areas with low shear stress. The aim of the present study was to investigate if the mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), Fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 receptor (Flt-1) and kinase insert domain-containing receptor (KDR) is regulated by shear stress.Endothelial cells from human umbilical veins were in

The kinase insert domain receptor gene (KDR) has been relocated to chromosome 4q11→q12

open access: closedCytogenetic and Genome Research, 1995
Through in situ hybridization of a genomic DNA probe to metaphase chromosomes, we have localized the KDR gene to 4q11→q12. This is the same locus as that for two other receptor tyrosine kinases, PDGFRA and KIT. This location for DR differs from that which we previously reported using a cDNA probe.

Association between kinase insert domain-containing receptor gene polymorphism and haplotypes and ischemic stroke

Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 2011
Kinase insert domain-containing receptor (KDR), a type 2 vascular endothelial growth factor receptor, plays a crucial role in angiogenesis and vascular integrity of blood vessels. We evaluated whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and haplotype of kinase insert domain-containing receptor (KDR) are associated with increased risk of ischemic ...

Capture of Flowing Endothelial Cells Using Surface-Immobilized Anti-Kinase Insert Domain Receptor Antibody

Tissue Engineering Part C: Methods, 2008
In humans, self-endothelialization of synthetic grafts is severely limited, but a recent interesting idea is to attract endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from peripheral blood onto grafts via antibodies directed at proposed EPC markers. Results with anti-CD34 antibodies have shown some promise, but it is unclear whether CD34 is the best marker for ...

Association between kinase insert domain-containing receptor gene polymorphisms and silent brain infarction: A Korean study

Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 2012
Kinase insert domain-containing receptor (KDR), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2, play a pivotal role in endothelial dysfunction, which may lead to silent brain infarction (SBI). We evaluated whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of KDR genes are associated with increased risk of SBI in a Korean population.A total of 383 patients ...

Genetic Variations of Kinase Inserts Domain Receptor (KDR) Gene Are Associated with the Risk of Astrocytomas

Molecular Neurobiology, 2015
Astrocytomas is one of the most common central nervous system (CNS) tumors with high mortality rate. Kinase insert domain receptor (KDR) is involved in the regulation of tumor angiogenesis, migration, and vascular permeability. The aim of the study was to explore the relationship between KDR polymorphisms and risk of astrocytomas.

The kinase insert domain-containing receptor is an angiogenesis-associated antigen recognized by human cytotoxic T lymphocytes

Blood, 2006
Antigen-specific cancer immunotherapy directed toward tumor-nourishing angiogenic blood vessels holds the promise of high efficacy, low toxicity, and ease of application. To evaluate whether the human angiogenic kinase insert domain-containing receptor (KDR) can serve as a target for cellular immunotherapy, 19 peptide sequences with HLA-A*0201 motifs ...

Functional and structural characterization of the kinase insert and the carboxy terminal domain in VEGF receptor 2 activation

open access: closedThe FASEB Journal, 2014
Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) regulate blood and lymphatic vessel development and homeostasis. VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR‐2) is the major receptor involved in vasculogenesis and angiogenesis and regulates endothelial cell survival, migration, and mitogenesis.
