DIP-2 suppresses ectopic neurite sprouting and axonal regeneration in mature neurons. [PDF]
Neuronal morphology and circuitry established during early development must often be maintained over the entirety of animal lifespans. Compared with neuronal development, the mechanisms that maintain mature neuronal structures and architecture are little

Using the structural kinome to systematize kinase drug discovery [PDF]
Kinase-targeted drug design is challenging. It requires designing inhibitors that can bind to specific kinases when all kinase catalytic domains share a common folding scaffold that binds ATP. Thus, obtaining the desired selectivity, given the whole human kinome, is a fundamental task during early-stage drug discovery.

Dominant role of GABAB2 and Gbetagamma for GABAB receptor-mediated-ERK1/2/CREB pathway in cerebellar neurons [PDF]
gamma-aminobutyric acid type B (GABA(B)) receptor is an allosteric complex made of two subunits, GABA(B1) and GABA(B2). GABA(B2) plays a major role in the coupling to G protein whereas GABA(B1) binds GABA. It has been shown that GABA(B) receptor activates ERK(1/2) in neurons of the central nervous system, but the molecular mechanisms underlying this ...

Differential responsiveness of MET inhibition in non-small-cell lung cancer with altered CBL. [PDF]
Casitas B-lineage lymphoma (CBL) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase and a molecule of adaptor that we have shown is important for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We investigated if MET is a target of CBL and if enhanced in CBL-altered NSCLC.

Recombinant Collagen Engineered to Bind to Discoidin Domain Receptors Functions as a Receptor Inhibitor [PDF]
A bacterial collagen-like protein Scl2 has been developed as a recombinant collagen model system to host human collagen ligand-binding sequences, with the goal of generating biomaterials with selective collagen bioactivities.

Integration of a Phosphatase Cascade with the MAP Kinase Pathway provides for a Novel Signal Processing Function [PDF]
We mathematically modeled the receptor-activated MAP kinase signaling by incorporating the regulation through cellular phosphatases. Activation induced the alignment of a phosphatase cascade in parallel with the MAP kinase pathway. A novel regulatory motif was thus generated, providing for the combinatorial control of each MAPK intermediate.

Deletion or insertion in the first immunoglobulin-plexin-transcription (IPT) domain differentially regulates expression and tumorigenic activities of RON receptor Tyrosine Kinase [PDF]
AbstractBackgroundActivation of the RON receptor tyrosine kinase, a member of the c-MET family, regulates tumorigenic phenotypes. The RON extracellular domains are critical in regulating these activities. The objective of this study was to determine the role of the first IPT domain in regulating RON-mediated tumorigenic activities and the underlying ...

Characterization of ROP GTPase-activated Arabidopsis receptor-like cytoplasmic kinases (RLCK class VI_A) [PDF]
Plants have to respond and adapt to a variety of continuously changing environmental factors in order to establish an appropriate developmental strategy to ensure survival. There are ample data showing that protein phosphorylation/dephosphorylation plays

Membrane and Protein Interactions of the Pleckstrin Homology Domain Superfamily. [PDF]
The human genome encodes about 285 proteins that contain at least one annotated pleckstrin homology (PH) domain. As the first phosphoinositide binding module domain to be discovered, the PH domain recruits diverse protein architectures to cellular ...
