Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Simulation of kinematic Kikuchi diffraction patterns from atomistic structures

open access: yesMethodsX, 2018
One of the limitations of atomistic simulations is that many of the computational tools used to extract structural information from atomic trajectories provide metrics that are not directly compatible with experiments for validation.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Kinematics modeling of the gear-based crank mechanism engine regardless of the compressions ratio variations

open access: yesScientific Reports
In this work, geometric and kinematic modeling of the gear-based crank mechanism engine (GBCM) was performed. To this aim, a mechanical approach based on projective computational methods and mechanism theory laws is applied, to which a parametric study ...

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS, GEOMETRY AND STATICS OF A COACH UNFOLDING MECHANISM [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2016
Starting from the constructive scheme of the mechanism, the kinematic scheme is drawn in three distinct positions (folded, middle and unfolded). By means of this scheme the mobility of the mechanism is calculated and the structural-topological formula ...

Overcoming Printing and Interfacial Challenges in Liquid Metal Direct Writing for Integrated Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Liquid metal direct writing is advanced from a technological and fundamental point. Utilizing a kinematic bed, printing on large surfaces with irregularities is enabled. Furthermore, a pressure‐driven flow during printing is discovered that affects the thickness of traces.
