Chezy’s resistance coefficient in an egg-shaped conduit

open access: yesJournal of Water and Land Development, 2018
When calculating uniform flows in open conduits and channels, Chezy’s resistance coefficient is not a problem data and its value is arbitrarily chosen. Such major disadvantage is met in all the geometric profiles of conduits and channels.

Problems with kinematic mean field electrodynamics at high magnetic Reynolds numbers

open access: yes, 2008
We discuss the applicability of the kinematic $\alpha$-effect formalism at high magnetic Reynolds numbers. In this regime the underlying flow is likely to be a small-scale dynamo, leading to the exponential growth of fluctuations. Difficulties arise with

A re-formulation of extended subloading surface model for cyclic plasticity within small strain framework: hyperelastic-based formulation and fully implicit return-mapping scheme

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
This paper presents a re-formulation of the extended subloading surface model within the ‘unconventional plasticity’ concept applicable to cyclic loadings. The small strain theory is adopted in the model formulation.

Elimination of Necking and Aspect Ratio Dependence in Uniaxial Actuators by Continuous Fiber Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.
