Cooling Holes in Polymer Spur Gears: A Critical Analysis of Heat Dissipation Benefits and Mesh Stiffness Penalties

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Cooling holes provide a simple passive cooling strategy for polymer spur gears, reducing maximum operating temperature by up to 9.39% while introducing a measurable gear mesh stiffness penalty. A validated response‐surface model reveals how hole size and location govern this thermal–mechanical trade‐off, enabling design optimization for thermally and ...

Kinematic flow from the flow of cuts

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The wavefunction coefficients of conformally coupled scalars in power-law FRW cosmologies satisfy differential equations governed by a set of simple combinatorial rules known as the kinematic flow.

INFLUENCE OF SELECTED PINION CUTTING TECHNOLOGICAL PARAMETERS ON KINEMATIC QUALITY OF SPIRAL BEVEL GEARS [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2014
The article evaluated the effect of selected process parameters on the accuracy of kinematic spiral bevel gear pair. The changes of technological parameters were analyzed using a proprietary, non-commercial support system for design bevel gears.

Functional models from limited data: A parametric and multimodal approach to anatomy and 3D kinematics of feeding in basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Basking sharks, Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, Brugden [Squalus maximus], Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskabs Skrifter, 1765, vol. 3, pp. 33–49), feed by gaping their mouths and gill slits, greatly reorienting their cranial skeletons to filter food from water.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Simulation of the Dynamics of the 3-CRS Parallel Robot with a Bond Graph Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
This paper presents a bond graph model of the 3-CRS parallel robot and the associated simulations. The structural and modular approach proposed with bond graph permits the systematic modeling of mechatronic multibody systems.

Scaling and ecomorphology of lagomorph body shape and appendicular skeleton

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Body shape is one of the most prominent features of phenotypic variation. Yet, mammalian body shapes are poorly quantified and the underlying components contributing to its diversity and its relationship to other skeletal components are rarely tested.

Generalised Graph Laplacians and Canonical Feynman Integrals with Kinematics

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics
AbstractTo any graph with external half-edges and internal masses, we associate canonical integrals which depend non-trivially on particle masses and momenta, and are always finite. They are generalised Feynman integrals which satisfy graphical relations obtained from contracting edges in graphs, and a coproduct involving both ultra-violet and infra ...
