Kinematics and Dynamics of Burst Transitions

Journal of Motor Behavior, 2014
Subjects (N = 14) were instructed to walk at comfortable walking speed and to start sprinting on an external (visual) stimulus. This is a burst transition. To accelerate maximally, different strategies can be used. The choice for a strategy was hypothesized to be (a) dependent of the body's dynamical status, which is in its turn dependent on the signal

Kinematics and Dynamics

2012
Underlying the study of fluid flow are the mechanical concepts of kinematics and dynamics, where kinematics applies to the description of the motion, and dynamics applies to the causes of the motion. It is first necessary to develop how to describe the motion and then examine the various forces involved in the motion and energy balance.

Nonholonomic kinematics and dynamics of the Sphericle

Proceedings. 2000 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2000) (Cat. No.00CH37113), 2002
We consider a complete dynamic model for the "Sphericle", a spherical vehicle that has been designed and realized in our laboratory. The Sphericle is able to roll on the floor of the laboratory and reach arbitrary positions and orientations, through the use of only two motors placed within the rolling sphere.

Kinematic and dynamic responses of the scrum

Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, 2013
In a rugby game, the scrum allows to restart a game to restart after a minor infringement. It is an important sequence for physical and psychological domination of the opponent (Quarrie and Wilson ...

Understanding the Kinematics and Dynamics of the Digit

Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, 2009
The flexor tendon system of the hand and the relationship between the flexor digitorum superficialis and flexor digitorum profundus is complicated and has been the subject of much research1-3. Treatment recommendations for diseases and injuries involving the flexor tendon system have evolved substantially over the past thirty years as a better ...

Particle kinematics and dynamics

2017
We enter the world of three dimensions gently, considering particles which just have mass, without the moments of inertia of a solid body. We see that vector functions of position can be differentiated to give vector velocities and accelerations. We define frames of reference and see how the motion of a particle in a rotating frame can be represented ...

Weighted decomposition of kinematics and dynamics of kinematically redundant manipulators

Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
The kinematics and dynamics of kinematically redundant manipulators are to be decomposed in consistent way with the joint space decomposition induced by the weighted pseudo-inverse operation. The weighted kinematically decoupled joint space decomposition results to a family of decomposed kinematics and dynamics, parametrized by the symmetric positive ...

Learning Arm Kinematics And Dynamics

Annual Review of Neuroscience, 1989
In this review I have discussed how the form of representation used in internal models of the motor apparatus affects how and what a system can learn. Tabular models and structured models have benefits and drawbacks. Structured models incorporate knowledge of the structure of the controlled motor apparatus. If that knowledge is correct, or close to the

Kinematics and Dynamics

1997
This chapter presents the kinematic and dynamic formulation of the deformable models. The kinematic formulation leads to the computation of a Jacobian matrix L which allows the transformation of 3D vectors into q-dimensional vectors, whereqis the number of geometric degrees of freedom of the deformable model.
