PneumAct: Pneumatic Kinesthetic Actuation of Body Joints in Virtual Reality Environments
Conference on Designing Interactive Systems, 2019Virtual Reality Environments (VRE) create an immersive user experience through visual, aural, and haptic sensations. However, the latter is often limited to vibrotactile sensations that are not able to actively provide kinesthetic motion actuation ...

Natural haptic feedback in virtual reality (VR) is complex andchallenging, due to the intricacy of necessary stimuli and re-spective hardware. Pseudo-haptic feedback aims at providinghaptic feedback without providing actual haptic stimuli butby using ...

Words in Motion: Kinesthetic Language Learning in Virtual Reality
International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies, 2018Embodied theories of language propose that the way we communicate verbally is grounded in our body. Nevertheless, the way a second language is conventionally taught does not capitalize on kinesthetic modalities.

We present Pull-Ups, a suspension kit that can suggest a range of body postures and thus enables various exercise styles of users perceiving the kinesthetic force feedback by suspending their weight with arm exertion during the interaction.

The aim of this chapter is to use the concept of kinesthetic empathy as a framework to investigate the production and reception of dance made for the screen, focusing on the audience’s kinesthetic experience of screendance versus (or synergistically related to) live dance performances.

Perception of timing of kinesthetic stimuli
NeuroReport, 1998A psychophysical method was used to estimate the timing of perception of kinesthetic stimuli with different velocities in normal volunteers. A 1 ms auditory click occurred randomly before or after an imposed flexion movement at either 20, 40 or 60 deg/s of the metacarpophalangeal joint.

This article addresses the problem of embodiment in terms of the objectified body, the mute body, and meaningless action and seeks to restore a language of embodiment and an embodied language in terms of the conscious body, action language, and action hermeneutics.
