ABSTRACT Hereditary pyropoikilocytosis (HPP) is a severe hemolytic anemia caused by variants in SPTA1, SPTB, and EPB41. Digitizing collections to unlock the full potential of palynology: A case study with the Smithsonian palynology collection

Large palynological collections have been built over decades and contain vital information. However, they are often difficult to access and use effectively. What is the point of having such collections if they are not fully utilizable? To solve this problem, we digitized the Smithsonian palynological collection using both light and confocal microscopy.

Connecting tradition and technology: The digitization of the ethnobotanical collection at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden

The digitization of RBetno (JBRJ) represents a step forward for biodiversity conservation in Brazil. Aligned with the Kunming‐Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Target 2, 2020–2030), this project documents the use of plants, including traditional knowledge and vernacular names, with a focus on the Atlantic Forest and Amazon.
