Preference‐Based Representations for Collective Agency
Abstract Computational accounts of learning and decision‐making in cognitive systems, and models thereof, such as reinforcement learning, typically assume that the behavior of individual agents is determined by an externally designated reward signal such that the agent's goal is the maximization of its expected accumulated reward under the state ...

Abstract figure legend Ephaptic phenomena in a high‐resolution model of the cardiac intercalated disc. Meshed representation of a tortuous intercalated disc that was generated based on electron and super‐resolution microscopy data. Na+ channels (red) and gap junctions (green) are heterogeneously distributed, with additional regions of reduced ion ...

ABSTRACT This work presents a novel neural‐network compression approach for polyconvex envelopes of isotropic functions. The approach relies on a classical sufficient criterion for polyconvexity and is particularly suited for the representation of determinant‐constrained energy densities arising in non‐linear elasticity.

Performance of a Mixed Least‐Squares Finite Element Formulation With Application in Poroelasticity
ABSTRACT A mixed least‐squares finite element method (LSFEM), previously proposed for the theory of porous media (TPM), is further investigated in this work. Finite deformation of a fully saturated, incompressible solid–fluid binary system is studied using the LSFEM.

Topology Optimization for Nonlinear Kirchhoff Plate Using RKPM
In this paper, the topology optimization of nonlinear Kirchhoff plate was studied by using meshless Reproducing Kernel Particle Method (RKPM). The relative densities of nodes were chosen as design variables to eliminate the checkerboard pattern, and the ...

A Partitioned Coupling Approach for Electromechanics Simulations of Skeletal Muscles Using FEBio
ABSTRACT This work presents a partitioned coupling approach for electromechanical simulations of skeletal muscles. For the first time, we couple our highly specialized electrophysiology solver, which computes both force generation in muscle cells and action potential propagation in muscle fibers, with an external finite element continuum mechanics ...

In the present paper, we are concerned with the existence of nonnegative solutions for two Kirchhoff-type problems driven by a fractional p-Laplacian operator, ( − Δ ) p s $(-\Delta )_{p}^{s}$ , in a bounded smooth domain Ω of R N $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ with N

ABSTRACT Strain‐space reduced cubature techniques such as the Empirically Corrected Cluster Cubature (E3C) considerably reduce the integration effort incurred in computational homogenisation problems. In this work, we apply E3C in tandem with projection‐based model reduction techniques utilising both linear and quadratic approximation spaces.
