Computational structural dynamics general solution procedure using finite volumes

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2022
A method for the solution of the three-dimensional structural dynamics equations with large strains using a finite volume technique is presented. The proposed solution procedure is second order accurate in space and employs a second-order accurate dual ...

Midbrain PAG Astrocytes Modulate Mouse Defensive and Panic‐Like Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
Astrocytes in the midbrain periaqueductal gray (PAG) dynamically encode threat intensity and shape defensive action selection in mice. Real‐time Ca2+ imaging reveals robust astrocytic activation during predator odor and CO2 exposure. Aberrant astrocytic Ca2+ overactivation disrupts goal‐directed escape, biases behavior toward freezing, and induces ...

Stroh-like formalism for Kirchhoff anisotropic thermoelastic plates [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics, 2013
A Stroh-like formalism is developed for the heat conduction and the coupled stretching and bending deformations of a laminated anisotropic thermoelastic thin plate based on Kirchhoff theory.

Multigrid Methods for Hellan-Herrmann-Johnson Mixed Method of Kirchhoff Plate Bending Problems

open access: yes, 2017
A V-cycle multigrid method for the Hellan-Herrmann-Johnson (HHJ) discretization of the Kirchhoff plate bending problems is developed in this paper. It is shown that the contraction number of the V-cycle multigrid HHJ mixed method is bounded away from one

A Strain Decoupling Packaging Strategy for High‐Fidelity Ultrathin Silicon Shape Sensors for Soft Medical Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 22, 17 April 2026.
Reliable soft sensors are essential for precise control in soft medical robots such as endoscopes. We developed ultrathin silicon piezoresistive sensors and their oil‐lubricated slidable packaging, which enables high‐fidelity shape sensing of silicon gauges by mechanically isolating the sensing element within a dual‐layer film.

Bidirectional Roles of TRPV1 in a Latent Sensitization Model of Myofascial Low Back Pain

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Chronic primary low back pain (cpLBP) is a global health concern with poorly understood pathomechanisms, potentially involving spinal sensitization. The capsaicin receptor TRPV1 plays a crucial role in sensitization across pain models.

MAGNETOELASTIC NATURAL VIBRATION OF CONDUCTIVE CIRCULAR PLATE IN CURRENT-CARRYING COILS

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2019
As for the conductive plate in magnetic field generated by current-carrying three parallel coaxial circular coils and spherical coils, based on the Kirchhoff plate theory, the magnetoelastic transverse vibration equation of the plate in magnetic field was ...

Energy flow finite element analysis of general Mindlin plate structures coupled at arbitrary angles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2019
Energy Flow Finite Element Analysis (EFFEA) is a promising tool for predicting dynamic energetics of complicated structures at high frequencies. In this paper, the Energy Flow Finite Element (EFFE) formulation of complicated Mindlin plates was newly ...

Efficient isogeometric thin shell formulations for soft biological materials

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents three different constitutive approaches to model thin rotation-free shells based on the Kirchhoff-Love hypothesis. One approach is based on numerical integration through the shell thickness while the other two approaches do not need ...

Collaborative Optimization of Electromagnetic Interference Shielding, Adaptive Multi‐Color, and Thermal Camouflage of Basalt Fibers by Temperature‐Induced Gradient Structure Control

open access: yesExploration, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
Polychromatic BFs with exceptional EMI and thermal shielding were fabricated based on a “plasma activation‐ALD bridging‐chemical plating‐post annealing treatments” gradient functionalization strategy. As prepared, basalt fiber/fabric demonstrates outstanding EMI SE of 53.47 dB and thermal infrared camouflage effect.
