Fatty acid addition and thermotolerance of Kluyveromyces marxianus [PDF]
Membrane fatty acid composition has an important role in yeast stress resistance, particularly in temperature tolerance. Most studies investigating temperature and membrane fatty acids use the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae without considering other yeasts, such as Kluyveromyces marxianus, which has physiological differences and industrial advantages ...

Genomic Exploration of the Hemiascomycetous Yeasts: 12.Kluyveromyces marxianusvar.marxianus
As part of the comparative genomics project ‘GENOLEVURES’, we studied theKluyveromyces marxianusvar.marxianusstrain CBS712 using a partial random sequencing strategy. With a 0.2×genome equivalent coverage, we identified ca. 1300 novel genes encoding proteins, some containing spliceosomal introns with consensus splice sites identical to those ...

Lignocellulosic xylitol production from corncob using engineered Kluyveromycesmarxianus
Xylitol production from lignocellulose hydrolysate is a sustainable and environment-friendly process. In this study, a systematic process of converting corncob waste into xylitol is described. First, the corncobs are hydrolyzed with acid to a hydrolysate.

Genome Sequence of the Thermotolerant Yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus var. marxianus KCTC 17555 [PDF]
ABSTRACT Kluyveromyces marxianus is a thermotolerant yeast that has been explored for potential use in biotechnological applications, such as production of biofuels, single-cell proteins, enzymes, and other heterologous proteins. Here, we present the high-quality draft of the 10.9-Mb genome of K. marxianus

Growth and autolysis of the kefir yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus in lactate culture
Kluyveromyces marxianus is a yeast that could be identified from kefir and can use a broad range of substrates, such as glucose and lactate, as carbon sources. The lactate produced in kefir culture can be a substrate for K. marxianus.
