Thermodynamic Properties of NaNO3-KNO3 Melts
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2019Thermodynamic properties of NaNO3-KNO3 melts have been studied by high-temperature mass spectrometry. The activities of the components of the condensed phase have been determined and the changes in the chemical potentials and Gibbs energies of the binary system have been calculated.

Far infrared study of the phases KNO3
Journal of Molecular Structure, 1986Abstract The literature has indicated that KNO3, a crystalline ionic solid, can undergo solid - solid transitions between seven different phases (ref.1). Four of these solid phases are found within small pressure (O 4k. bar) (ref. 2). The phase transitions (I – IV) are investigated here as they offer an opportunity to study the implied negative ...

Diagramme de phases LiNO3-KNO3
Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series IIC - Chemistry, 1998The phase diagram of the binary system (Li, K)NO3 has been obtained by direct and differential thermal analysis techniques between 323 and 630 K. This system is characterized by a eutectic point (58 % mol KNO3, 407 ± 1 K) and a peritectic reaction at 412 ± 1 K. A plateau due to the solid-solid transition of KNO3 is observed at 403 ± 1 K.

Occlusion of KNO3 and NH4NO3 in natural zeolites
Zeolites, 1997The capacity of natural zeolites to occlude ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate by molten salt treatment has been determined, and the salt-occluded zeolites have been characterized. Molten salt treatment resulted in changes of overall and relative intensities of peaks in X-ray diffractograms of zeolites. The presence of occluded salt in zeolites was

Thermobarometric study of KNO3 phase transitions
Thermochimica Acta, 1997Abstract In this work, a thermobarometric study of bulk KNO3 submitted to pressure less than 150 MPa has been performed by means of the Metabolemeter system. The effect of pressure on the transitions between the different phases I, II and III have been analysed. Endothermic transformation from II to I takes place through phase III.

Structure of high-pressure KNO3-IV
Physica B+C, 1986Potassium nitrate has seven polymorphs in the pressure range to 40 kbar. The structures of the three phases obtainable at atmospheric pressure are known. Attempts to solve the structure of high pressure KNO3 phase IV by X-ray diffraction have been unsuccessful. We have now solved this structure using time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction data taken

Comparative analysis of the ESD sensitivity of B/KNO3 and B4C/KNO3 pyrotechnic compositions
This study evaluates the electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitivity of boron and potassium nitrate (BPN) and boron carbide with potassium nitrate (BCPN) compositions. Previous investigations for the BPN composition report limited ESD data, primarily in the undamped mode, showing insensitivity up to 5 J.Hřebíčková, Pavlína +3 more

An Investigation on the System K2Cr2O7 — KNO3 by DSC
1979The phase diagram of the binary system K2Cr2O7-KNO3 has been reinvestigated using DSC. The system is a simple eutectic one, with the eutectic point at 80 mole% KNO + 20 mole% K2Cr2O7 and 542.8 K. The enthalpies of fusion and the heat capacities of both K2Cr2O7 and KNO3 have been redetermined, as well as the enthalpy of fusion of the eutectic mixture ...

Metastable KNO3 III from solution
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1972Abstract The matastable rhombohedral polymorph of potassium nitrate which can be grown from solution in water or alcohol is phase III, not phase I. The small crystals can be cycled through the ferroelectric ⇌ paraelectric transformation III ⇌ I.
