Lessons from the α2 Integrin Knockout Mouse [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Pathology, 2002
The α2β1 integrin (VLA-2), one of the first integrins to be identified and characterized, is a collagen receptor, although it can function as a dual collagen/laminin receptor on some cell types. 1 Numerous studies have implicated this integrin in a range of biological and pathobiological functions. 2,3 A more rigorous analysis of α2β1 function has been

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

HDAC4 regulates apoptosis in Acan‐CreERT2;HDAC4d/d mice with osteoarthritis by downregulating ATF4

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using the AcanCreERT2;HDAC4fl/fl genetic mouse model, we further investigated the role of histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) in chondrocyte apoptosis. We found that knocking down HDAC4 may be associated with chondrocyte apoptosis by upregulating the activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4)/CAAT/enhancer binding protein homologous (CHOP) signaling pathway ...

Intrusion Detection Using Mouse Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Compared to other behavioural biometrics, mouse dynamics is a less explored area. General purpose data sets containing unrestricted mouse usage data are usually not available. The Balabit data set was released in 2016 for a data science competition, which against the few subjects, can be considered the first adequate publicly available one.

Comparative activity of dimethyl fumarate derivative IDMF in three models relevant to multiple sclerosis and psoriasis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IDMF is a derivative of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) with a unique therapeutic potential at the intersection of psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. Here, we demonstrate that it compares favorably with DMF and its other derivatives, such as Diroximel, in the zebrafish, microglia, and lymphocyte models.

Demo of picoRing mouse: an ultra-low-powered wireless mouse ring with ring-to-wristband coil-based impedance sensing [PDF]

open access: yes
Wireless mouse rings offer subtle, reliable pointing interactions for wearable computing platforms, but the small battery below 27 mAh in the miniature rings restricts the ring's continuous lifespan to just 1-2 hours due to the power consumption of current low-powered wireless communication like BLE.

Tryptophan‐sensing receptor GPR142 expression levels are directly regulated by proinflammatory cytokines in ghrelin‐producing cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

Reaction mechanism of quasi-free knockout processes in exotic RI beam era [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The quasi-free nucleon knockout reaction has been revealed the single-particle nature of nuclei. Thanks to the advances in experimental techniques and reaction theory, various new aspects of nuclei are being revealed by knockout reactions. In this article, we review the basic concept of the quasi-free knockout reaction, and recent achievements in the ...
