Scavenger receptor class B type I is solely responsible for the selective uptake of cholesteryl esters from HDL by the liver and the adrenals in mice

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2004
Scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) has been identified as a functional HDL binding protein that can mediate the selective uptake of cholesteryl ester (CE) from HDL.

The mammalian gene function resource: the international knockout mouse consortium

open access: yesMammalian Genome, 2012
In 2007, the International Knockout Mouse Consortium (IKMC) made the ambitious promise to generate mutations in virtually every protein-coding gene of the mouse genome in a concerted worldwide action.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Mouse Models of Genetically Altered Peroxiredoxin 6

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2019
Peroxiredoxin 6 (Prdx6) has been shown to have three enzymatic activities: peroxidase, phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and acyl transferase. The peroxidase activity is unusual, as it is capable of reducing phospholipid hydroperoxides (as well as hydrogen ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Hyperglycemic Ins2AkitaLdlr−/− mice show severely elevated lipid levels and increased atherosclerosis: a model of type 1 diabetic macrovascular disease[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2011
Accelerated atherosclerosis is the leading cause of death in type 1 diabetes, but the mechanism of type 1 diabetes-accelerated atherosclerosis is not well understood, in part due to the lack of a good animal model for the long-term studies required.
