miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Budgeting of non-commercial clinical trials: development of a budget tool by a public funding agency

open access: yesTrials, 2019
Background Investigator-led multicentre randomised trials are essential to generate evidence on the optimal use of medical interventions. These non-commercial trials are often hampered by underfunding, which may lead to difficulties in gathering a team ...

Efficacy of sustained knowledge translation (KT) interventions in chronic disease management in older adults: systematic review and meta-analysis of complex interventions

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2023
Background Chronic disease management (CDM) through sustained knowledge translation (KT) interventions ensures long-term, high-quality care. We assessed implementation of KT interventions for supporting CDM and their efficacy when sustained in older ...

Towards a Universal Continuous Knowledge Base [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In artificial intelligence (AI), knowledge is the information required by an intelligent system to accomplish tasks. While traditional knowledge bases use discrete, symbolic representations, detecting knowledge encoded in the continuous representations learned from data has received increasing attention recently.

Decoding the dual role of autophagy in cancer through transcriptional and epigenetic regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls autophagy, which exerts context‐dependent effects on cancer: Autophagy suppresses tumorigenesis by maintaining cellular homeostasis or promotes tumor progression by supporting survival under stress. In this “In a Nutshell” article, we explore the intricate mechanisms of the dual function of autophagy ...

Do B-1 cells play a role in response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis Beijing lineages?

open access: yesVirulence, 2022
We highlight the need to include an analysis of the B-1 B cell subset to complement the characterization of the cell-mediated immune response to the Mycobacterium tuberculosis Beijing lineage.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

An Integrated Model for User Innovation Knowledge Based on Super-network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Online user innovation communities are becoming a promising source of user innovation knowledge and creative users. With the purpose of identifying valuable innovation knowledge and users, this study constructs an integrated super-network model, i.e., User Innovation Knowledge Super-Network (UIKSN), to integrate fragmented knowledge, knowledge fields ...
