Modeling of Knudsen Layer Effects in the Micro-Scale Backward-Facing Step in the Slip Flow Regime

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
The effect of the Knudsen layer in the thermal micro-scale gas flows has been investigated. The effective mean free path model has been implemented in the open source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, to extend its applicability up to slip and ...

GKS and UGKS for High-Speed Flows

open access: yesAerospace, 2021
The gas-kinetic scheme (GKS) and the unified gas-kinetic scheme (UGKS) are numerical methods based on the gas-kinetic theory, which have been widely used in the numerical simulations of high-speed and non-equilibrium flows.

Knudsen number, ideal hydrodynamic limit for elliptic flow and QGP viscosity in $\sqrt{s}$=62 and 200 GeV Cu+Cu/Au+Au collisions

open access: yes, 2010
Taking into account of entropy generation during evolution of a viscous fluid, we have estimated inverse Knudsen number, ideal hydrodynamic limit for elliptic flow and QGP viscosity to entropy ratio in $\sqrt{s}$=62 and 200 GeV Cu+Cu/Au+Au collisions ...

Orbital Magnetic Moment Controlled Converse Magnetoelectric Effect in bcc‐Co3Mn/Fe/V/PMN‐PT Multiferroic Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on orbital magnetic moment control, a material design strategy is proposed for a giant converse magnetoelectric effect in multiferroic heterostructures. This study will pioneer a promising route toward low‐power spintronic devices with an electric field.

Knudsen number and universal behavior of collective flows in conformal and non-conformal systems

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We investigate the role of the Knudsen number (Kn) as a scaling parameter governing the emergence of collective behavior in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Thermophoresis of Janus particles at large Knudsen numbers [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Fluids, 2018
The force and torque on a Janus sphere moving in a rarefied gas with a thermal gradient are calculated. The regime of large Knudsen number is considered, with the momenta of impinging gas molecules either obtained from a Chapman-Enskog distribution or from a binary Maxwellian distribution between two opposing parallel plates at different temperature ...

Light‑Driven Propulsion of Graphene Aerogels in Microgravity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultralight graphene aerogels convert laser light into thrust. Parabolic‐flight experiments directly compare their motion in microgravity and at 1 g, revealing order‐of‐magnitude enhancements in distance, velocity, and transient thrust when weight and friction are removed (∼50 times enhancement).

Gas Velosity and Mass Flowrate Scaling Modeling in Microelectronics’ Thermal Control Systems

open access: yesHolodilʹnaâ Tehnika i Tehnologiâ, 2017
In the present research we investigate pressure driven flow in the transition and free-molecular flow regimes with the objective of developing unified flow models for microchannels.

The Knudsen Paradox in Micro-Channel Poiseuille Flows with a Symmetric Particle

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The Knudsen paradox—the non-monotonous variation of mass-flow rate with the Knudsen number—is a unique and well-established signature of micro-channel rarefied flows.

Hilbert Expansion from the Boltzmann equation to relativistic Fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We study the local-in-time hydrodynamic limit of the relativistic Boltzmann equation using a Hilbert expansion. More specifically, we prove the existence of local solutions to the relativistic Boltzmann equation that are nearby the local relativistic ...
